Stressed

I am so far behind with my S@S stuff because I have so much work to do, it's also hard because I'm away from home and there are so many forms and whatnot that need to be squared away.

I have to get all my health stuff done, finish deciding what trips I want to take, which are turning out to be rather pricey, and finish shopping for other necessities.

On top of that, I actually got freaked out for the first time a couple of days ago. We were driving to port authority so I could catch the bus back to school and I passed a HUGE ship in port. It was then, just at that moment that it hit me that'd I'd be on a vessel quite similar for an entire semester-surrounded by water-with no escape. Now that a little time has passed it's not as scary. To be perfectly honest I'm glad it happened then and not when I saw our actual ship for the first time in the Bahamas.

So I'm still insanely excited, but my head is spinning and I just want it all to begin, this planning and organizing stuff is just NOT for me.

On a super positive note, I booked my South African Safari!!!!!
It ended up being about a grand cheaper than the one S@S offered because I'm traveling independently with 8 other people. YAY for that.

Trips

So, I rush sent out my choices for class registration. I know that it's first come first serve so I definitely NEED to get everything that I chose. Luckily, I had one more meeting with my english advisor just to make sure all the classes would transfer over properly... everything is copacetic on that front.

Today... technically yesterday, I finally received my field program registration packet. It was much bigger than I expected. So now I have the daunting task of figuring out what trips I want to take, and frankly, whether I'm comfortable spending the kind of money S@S is asking for them. I also know that I cannot truly experience this trip unless I participate in some form of helping, even remotely, the cultures I'll be momentarily immersed in. I want to get into some of the villages, see the families-children-communities-and help in any way possible. I don't know how to go about doing that and it's slightly frustrating. I just won't be fully rewarded by this journey if I don't.

So here is my dilemma... everything costs so much more than I orignially thought, and there's just so much that I want to see. The world is practically at my fingertips, how best do I take advantage of that?

Here's to hoping I gain some insight in that matter soon

Classes!

Ok, so I FINALLY got my course registration list today and I couldn't be more excited.

I plan to take Global Studies (everyone has to take it), Asian Literature, Travel Writing, Topics in Film( a Lit course) and hopefully a performance lab that will count towards my acting minor. When all is said and done, that'll be 15 credits. I really hope that I get everything I need!

Here's a look at my "floating university" for anyone who's curious

<---- I get to live there!

All in all there are about 650 students going on the trip along with faculty and staff.  It's a huge undertaking, and I have no idea what to expect.

I am ecstatic and terrified and so incredibly grateful all at the same time. I have so many things left to purchase and organize and

Brace yourself kids, it's gonna be a bumpy road
to the starting line
