I'm on the verge of turning the big 4-0. I remember when I was in high school, I thought I'd be dead before I turned 40, or at the very least, I'd be too old to enjoy life anymore. But, now that I'm looking 40 in the face, I can tell you that I was totally wrong. Turning 40 isn't all that bad. I'm still in an upright position, I'm not holding conversations with inanimate objects, and I still enjoy life to the fullest. Why? Because I refuse to grow up.
Just because you get older, doesn't mean you have to stop living the good life. Now, that doesn't mean you can still go out and do all the stupid stuff you did when you were a kid. It does mean that you can get the most out of your daily life. Life is what you make of it. If you look at life through the eyes of an old person, that's what you're going to be. But, if you see the world with youthful vigor, you get to feel young forever. It's all a matter of perception. The old adage "your only as old as you feel" has a lot of truth to it. If you feel old, you will be old. If you feel like a kid, you get to be a kid.
Of course, you still have to keep up on all the adult stuff, but you can still enjoy life. If you let the stresses of everyday life get you down, you might as well start throwing dirt in your face. But, if you find a way to get past the stress, you will find that happiness will keep you feeling young and will lift your spirit. Just because you get older doesn't mean it's all over. It's up to you to keep yourself feeling forever young.
