9/6/2006 - Roland Garros 2006 SF: Nicole Vaidisova v Svetlana Kuznetsova 7-5,6-7,2-6
yes very sad. pity. she played well that young girl. Nicole Vaidisova, 17, was serving for the match at 7-5, 5-3. Yes, she was that close to reaching the final. Unfortunately, her inexperience and youth showed. Her game was brilliant up to then, her 1st serves all in, she was commanding the game, and kuznetsova had really no answer. Then came the commentator's curse, the only way nicole would be defeated is if she loses her calmness. Boy how it happened, she had no 1st serves in and double faults, unforced errors as she lost that match and from then onwards, she was on the backfoot. The power of psychology, the teenage angst darting towards her coach and parents. Poor girl, she was in tears at the end of the match. The mind outdid her today, it could so easily have been different. Ah well, this is a learning curve, and hopefully this is not the last we saw of her, and that she is not just a one-of wonder. Just as i felt Rafael Nadal was the inspiration of Roland Garros 2005, she was the inspiration of this one. Brilliant run, Great Talent, Great Composure(until that point), Pretty, hard hitting, one for the future. She may be out but she has won the hearts and attention of many, congratulations Nicole Vaidisova!! sigh, wanted her to win today, but we learn through failures, and i hope this will have helped her improve, especially mentally and gaining important experience. Hope to see more of her again =)
The classic case of what the defending champion can do, up step Justine Henin-Hardenne, with husband Pierre Yves watching from the stands, she etched a initially difficult but a brilliant 6-3,6-2 win over Kim Clijsters, who is no pushover mind you, taking the head to head to 10-10 and 4-0 in recent times. Looks like justine and rafael are game on to defend their title, but roger is a much harder prospect then Svetlana, and well men's semis tommorow, we shall see whether the prediction of a rafael v roger final comes true. it is highly likely, would be a great match.
Went to toa payoh and studied with marian and amanda, as usual i came late, they ate at macs and i joined them at macs to study by default. i realized how much to be done as i struggled through maths. with chinese imminent, chemistry alot to cover, maths in a state of misunderstanding, and econs in the answering technique, and physics in unprepareness, i have reason to worry much. for stay back or even drop out is not so farfetched. fencing attendance 1 out of the last 5, NYAA nothing done, fencing JC1 competition sign up yesterday and i missed. im killing myself ahh..and im lonely tommorow, and im surveying on sat. My schedule tells the story, im losing my social time, the calls of the abyss looms. i shall try and rejuvenate the lost enthusiasm and charisma, hearken the calls to improve, it is imminent!! SOS. Really.
