11/6/2006 - World Cup 2006 Group B: England 1 Paraguay 0
so, the World Cup day 2 turned out to be the day my favourite turns up and play, and at 2100 local time too!! England marched on the Frankfurt pitch to play Paraguay, and lo and behold, England 1-0 after 4 minutes, and the Paraguay keeper was substituted through injury and out of the tournament. any worse? the goal was an own goal, and it was the match winner!! England were average today, could have created more chances, yeah and well it was the 1-0 win in the end, the referee didnt like peter crouch, everything was not going his way, poor crouchy, bad mexican referee!! Anyways the thing is england 3 points, which eventually proved important as sweden dropped 2 points later...
Trinidad 0 Paraguay 0, halftime, fantastic in itself, with Ljungberg, Ibrahamovic and Larsson spearing the swede attack. Larsson having won the champons league of course, but to no avail, even with 10 men, trinidad survived and claimed a valuable point with yorke in midfield and john lone attack. Maybe if yorke attacked they could have won? haha. credit to them, they claim their first pont in their debut game. Sweden must be disappointed and embarrassed, advantage england before they take the carribeans next, with the firepower of the likes of owen, lampard, gerrard, joe cole, beckham at hand. Looking goo for england despite a average performance then. first shock of the tournaments with the swedws on the receiving end.
Justine Henin-Hardenne won the french open, it was expected so i didnt watch, credit to her, i like her play, brilliant!! Alonso pole for silverstone, Raikkonen second, both snatched from Michael last minute who finished 3rd and Massa 4th...haha, sports flash, studied today with amanda and marian at toa payoh macs, cheng yuan came later. Maths maths, stressful...scary...met justin thong, nicholas lim and the twins briefly today at city hall mrt briefly today. then i chao to watch match haha, heard jeremy yeap join too lol..lunch tommorow with family..extended one, bye!!
P.S Argentina v Ivory Coast on now..
