16/6/2006 - World Cup Fever Returns
Right.came back from a short term of absence yesterday evening. Lost the world cup fever somewhat the past 2-3 days or so, falling asleep during the France and Switzerland 0-0 bore show, and missing the Brazil v Croatia, Spain v Ukraine, Germany v Poland etc subsequently. yeah Spain won 4-0!! had a wager with my dad on exact score for the Spain and Germany game, no one won anything yea, surprise!! Then i lost to Xiaoting 2 bucks on the Brazil game on exact score lol, they only beat Croatia 1-0 lol, i thought it will be 3-0 ah well. Happy to be doing the things im doing, and hoping to do more. Sigh exams next week lol, i really should be studying right now literally. Came back yesterday and watched Ecuador v Costa Rica. 3-0 to the siuth americans, and i earned 14 bucks from betting 20 on a ecuador win from singapore pools, courtesy of help from Xiaoting. hehe. then slept and woke up and watched England struggle to a 2-0 win over the Trinidad warriors. Yes, warriors, they are admirable to have held England for so long. Yeah and cometh Wayne Rooney, unleashed for 30 mintes today, but his lack of match practice showed. Aaron Lennon showed promise and the team was boosted with the substitutions, with David Beckham captain style assiting first a Peter Crouch header and then a Steven Gerrard screamer to cap off a victory on a lacklustre performance. Yeah, but now England are though with Ecuador and Germany, and will play either one of them. Sweden look set to join England on qualification as well as they eliminated Paraguay 1-0 in the 0300 kickoff. Freddy Ljunberg scored in the 88th min to stun the paraguayans, who will be going home. Sweden are almost home, needing just a point v England, who already qualified and needing Trinidad not to win by a 3 goal margin more than their loss. Credit to Trinidad they played their best, but their best is just not good enough on the World's biggest stage. Shamsul Mardin to referee his second game today in the Mexico v Angola game, after doing singapore proud in refereeing the Trinidad 0-0 Sweden game. yeah, thats all for now, gotta start studying sigh, one week left, all to do, lets go, should i meet hisham later at 1930 at orchard mrt? they want to catch the game hmmm...and betting on today's game? hmm....
