WELL HERE I AM...AND 2006 HAS ROARED AWAY TO A FAST GET AWAY.A DIARY ENTRY.
Hello to everyone in blog land! I haven't written a thing for what seems ages. Firstly I wasn't very well for a while before Christmas and my wonderful daughter came over and helped me spring clean all my house before Christmas because I was lagging the chain and I wanted everything nice for when our Son and his family came to stay. Steven and his family started out at 3:00AM on the 19th December, then at 6:30 AM the same morning we got news that their car had broken down approximately three hours out of Brisbane Queensland and they had to wait on the side of the road for help... when help arrived in the form of R. A. C. Q. they were towed back to a place called Towoomba and there they waited with three little kids in pyjamas out front of a mechanic shop... for a mechanic to arrive and tell them the car needed a new motor and was going to cost $8 to $10 thousand dollars approximately.
So they got a tow truck to come and tow the doomed vechicle back to Brisbane and a friend came all that way and picked them up and took them back home. When we got the news we were all devistated and I thought I would die and my daughter said Mum where there is a will there is a way so she rang them up and we got on the internet to find some air fares. After looking and looking we finally found the cheapet fares on Quantus but they had to be at the airport at 4.00 AM the next morning, which meant they all had to be out of bed at 3:00AM once more. So thanks to some plastic money we got them here and we all had a wonderful time. We cried and cried from happiness when they came and we cried from happiness and a tinge of sadness when they left.
They got the four wheel drive fixed for $5700.00 in the end. And apparently the said vechicle is running like a charm...so touch wood it stays running that way. It's a Christmas we will remember for such a long time because of the many high and low ebbs leading up to it. At the moment we are looking after our Daughter's and families house, while they are on holidays down in country Victoria. They are having a wonderful time and have befriended some possums and a family of magpies and some other Aussie creatures which the kids love.
Yesterday Mum made blood plum jam and I started on a big pot of yellow gage plum jam which I will finish up and bottle tonight. Today I'm going over to a friends place for lunch and we are going to watch the tennis on TV. We used to always go to the Australian open... but the last few years we have decided it's more comfortable at home...okay you miss a bit of the atmosphere and the many characters that you see but it's more comfortable when it's so hot. And it is just so so hot this summer and it doesn't sit well with me I'm afraid. I have just made some chocolate mud muffins to take for lunch.
FOOT NOTE... Had a wonderful day watching tennis and we had a great lunch, We are going to do it again next year. 21:17 - Thursday, January 19, 2006 - post commentShare and enjoy
