A short story about missing keys.MISSING KEYS! By Dawnie M? D. 2006. There had always been a problem with keys. He was running out of patience and felt that a simple solution must be possible. As he approached the big Iron Gates he couldn't see the gatekeeper anywhere and his temperature started to rise, where on earth could this fellow be? He tapped on the gatekeeper's door, no answer, so he rapped on the window several times and finally a woman all in a fluster, hair all tussled came to the door. Harry looked at her and couldn't believe his eyes, was he imagining things? No surely not, could he be looking at the gardener's wife? He just stared with a gapping mouth and finally he managed to say, "I've come for the keys, I'm looking for Ralphy the gatekeeper?" The woman taking on a cool and collected look said, "The gatekeeper is indisposed?" and handed him a big rusty key ring with several heavy keys on it. "At last he said" and sighed heavily as he went on his way back to the main house. When he got back the cook was all in a spin, wanting to know what took him so long because the head gardener was hopping from one foot to another with eager urgency. He had to open the big Old Rusted Gates at the back end of the property for some important visitor who just didn't want to be seen in these parts and wouldn't come through the Main Gate. Harry couldn't just blurt out that old Ralphy was having a bit of a romp in the gatehouse with this fellows, wife so he wondered how many knew about this and how long until her husband got wind of the affair. For now his main aim was to get a better arrangement for these keys he was sick of running hither and dither between the gatehouse and the main house. He would have to see why there was only one set and ask if another set could be made and kept up here. Harry would hopefully see the Master after the visitor had been settled and was comfortable. So with this in mind he asked cook if she could please ask the Master to call for him after he had completed the morning chores and the midday meal was finished.
