WOLVES, BACK FROM THE

 BRINK OF EXTINCTION

I watched a program on television this morning about the Wolves of the United States of America. In the 19th Century which was over 100 years ago, man almost wiped the Wolf from the earth and it was all but extinct, but in the late 20th Century a few naturalists and wolf lovers bought the wolf back from the brink and successfully introduced them back into their natural habitat to live free as they have for centuries before the white man came to settle the land and kill everything off that he deemed unworthy of sharing the planet with him. Now that the Wolves have been so successful and have bred back near to their 19th century numbers. Guess what Man wants to take out his gun and start shooting them again. "How asinine is that, I ask you?" Surely we humans are smarter than that? The Wolf was there before the white man and is a vital part of the ecosystem and has a right to live in peace. I'm realistic enough to know that they the wolves will take down the odd cow and the ranchers are compensated for that so surely there is a way to live with these magnificent and regal animals without getting out guns and starting a whole sail slaughter again. It seems to me that we humans have to get back to the drawing board and learn to solve things with out the threat of the all-powerful gun. We go to war and shoot each other and the suffering goes on and on for years and years and we learn nothing absolutely nothing. It's absurd to think we are in the 21st century and we still want to make bigger better and more powerful bombs and guns to shoot each other and now it seems the regal and noble Wolves are the next targets once again. Now over here in the land of Australia we are no paragons of virtue either. So I think we can learn something as well from the tale of the Wolves.

Wolves

Here is an intresting tidbit of information. There has in fact been no recorded cases of a wolf ever atacking a human in America. They are not infact really aggressive towrd people but prefer to try and lure humans away that get too close to thier territory opposed to atacking, though a lone wolf might be more deserpate then a pack. And wolves do not like dogs, so a wolf might go after a person with a dog, on account of the dog not the human.

wolves

Dearest Dawnie, thank you for your wonderful comments :-). I never knew much about wolves besides what the media projected of them as mindless beasts so this post of yours has been a real eye opener for me. As a vegetarian and a human being I feel I should be better informed about wolves and protect them and their space. Silverwind seems to be right in pointing out that they do not attack but like to ward people away to keep their own space. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. God bless your wonderful soul.

Bears

Heard of this story from Germany? This year the first bear in over a century was discovered in the wild in Germany. The public were going ape and all, the media dubbed the bear Bruno, and then of course the farmers spoke. Fearing the bear would wreak havoc among livestock (c'mon it's only one bear...) they had hunters hunt it down, and not two weeks ago they had it killed. And people are complaining nature in Europe is going down the drain...???

I hope from the bottom of my heart that they had it wrong, and that there are actually thousands of bears roaming thru Germany, hunting down the hunters.

G'day Dutchboy.

Thank you for your comments. Your little tale of the poor bear doesn't surprise me one bit. Now these same German people will fly off to somewhere and pay money to see a wild bear caged up in some zoo or reserve but when it is roaming free in their own land as nature intended they shoot the poor noble creature. Oh! how frustrating and asinine. I'm like minded as you and hope a whole lot of bears could be impowered with guns and march on in and turn the tables but the animal kingdom wouldn't be so evil and destructive as the human race. They only take from nature their exact needs for survival and are not covetous or greedy. (((hugs))) and a :-) from Dawnie.
