GREEN PASTURES AND STILL WATERS!

I read a long while ago a piece of writing, written by
Little Rivers---Henry Van Dyke.
And it has always stuck in my mind because basically
I loved the message written there in. It went something
like this...

There is such a thing as taking ourselves and the world
to seriously. Half the secular unrest and dismal, prefane
sadness of our modern society comes from the vain idea
that everybody is bound to be a critic of life, and let no day
pass without finding fault with the general order of things,
or projecting some plan for it's improvement. And the other
half comes from the greedy notion that our lives do consist,
after all, in the abundance of the things that we possesseth
and that it is somehow or other more respectable and pious
to always be at work making a larger living, than it is to lie
down on your back in the green pastures, beside the still
waters, and thank God you are alive.
