MUSSELS AND HOW TO COOK THEM?

Yesterday I was hunting all over the internet for mussel recipes.Because I had a package of mussels, Hubby bought on Monday night and seeing I had never cooked them before I was looking for some eye popping delectable recipe. I've eaten mussels plenty of times at restaurants but as I say never cooked them myself. Well I didn't find any one recipe that jumped off the page and said me,me cook me. So I settled on one and took an idea or two from three others and made my own version, a hotch potch of four recipes and believe it or not it was absolutely great and Steve---Hubby was very happy and enjoyed my creation so much and complimented me. I've never been much of a recipe person because when I watched my Mother cook she never had a recipe it was always a pinch of this and a cup of that and a slice of this. Mum was and still is a lovely cook, she cooks lovely cakes and meals to die for. My kids when young and still here with me used to always abscond around there on their way home from school and see what goodies Nana had on offer. My Nana, my kids Great Grandmother was alive then and living with Mum and she couldn't wait to see them come every afternoon on their way home from school and she would make sure Mum always had the kettle hot to make
them a milo to drink with their afternoon tea. And if they ever returned from somewhere saying they weren't hungry and couldn't eat their tea, I'd need not ask where they had been and why they weren't hungry the answer was obvious. And when I look back what a blessing it was to have had my Mother, Grandmother and Brothers just living around the corner and my children to have had this rich blessing of love and special treats when they entered through the door.
