YOU ARE A WONDEROUS STAR TO ME!

I don't know if I've said this before but for the purpose of this poem I will tell you that I am a palliative care volunteer. This vocation brings one into contact with many beautiful souls and some cranky ones also but no matter which category they fall into, one always strives to do ones best. Five years ago on a hot January morning I rocked up to this house in a neighbouring suburb to sit with an American lady from Florida. She had a terminal illness cancer and was going to die. Little did I know that this beautiful woman and I, in the space of 8 weeks would become soul mates, we had so much in common and so I wrote her a poem that she could take with her on her journey out of this life into the next plain of life. I always think of her but I have been thinking about her all this week because of the fifth anniversary of 9/11 most likely and it struck me that her life should be remembered along with every day souls who die every day of the week all over the world also.
