GLENVALE FAIRY

This is a poem I wrote a couple of weeks ago for the book

U3A (University Of The Third Age) prints each year with

the humble meanderings of we, middle age schoolies.

Who try to come up with something worth reading out aloud

to the class, each Monday morn. Oh! Well it's fun trying.

GLENVALE FAIRY

Welcome to my wild bushy Garden
My home among hawthorns, down along the creek
where I spend my time dabbling and dreaming
Whiling away the hours, frolicking in the sun.

This is where the sun, shines all day
Clouds of cotton fluff grace the sky
where the leaves fall and float on by
And I hear the wind blowing softly sigh.

The creek babbles along, on it’s merry way
And, I sit on the mossy green banks
Tending the wild flowers with love and care
And always giving thanks with a twinkle in my eye.

I splash my toes with the early morning dew
Watch as the sun awakens to warm the moist air
The fresh earthy smell of morning has awakened
Bringing joy and happiness to my waking day.

I am a Fairy of compassion, love and friendship
When, you feel the gentle breezes sigh
you will realise I am there somewhere just out of sight
with a heart that’s full to bursting with joy.

I watch and care for all the toddler fairies
As they learn, explore play and grow,
They are pure pleasure and have such sweet ways,
Bringing more happiness than you will ever know.

So when the morning mists drift away
with the warm glow of Glenvale’s early dawn,
you will feel my presence, softly drifting.
As we face another morn’ on the banks of scrubby creek.

I am there with you always to hold you in my care,
to bring you the joy of freshness everywhere

I am the mists of Glenvale with many a tale to tell
of days when all my family lived here- I remember well.
