2/19/2007 - Hey There Everyone
Well, it has been a long damned time since I updated.  My apologies for that.  Seems like the site was unstable last year when I was last a regular visitor so I kind of backed off.  But, I am back now, meaner than ever, and prepared to start with some fresh posts very soon!  Stay tuned.

We all use search engines right? And if you are like me, Google is your top choice for the best searches on the net. Today, I discovered BLINGO. Now, I thought it would be hard to find a search engine to top google right? However, BLINGO is powered by GOOGLE. Woo hoo hoo.

Here is how it works. You can search unlimited times of course, but only 10 of your searches count toward prizes. After you search, there is a button that says, "Did I Win". Simply click on it to see if you did or not, its that simple.

And, if you have FRIENDS on Blingo, you can also get stuff from their winnings. I used a referral code to join Blingo and was really impressed that my referrer had actually won a movie ticket AND an itunes gift certificate. Too cool.

So click the link below (I just signed up today) and join me for fun searches and prizes on Blingo by Google. Remeber, if we group together our chances are greater!

I got the same email everyone else did that JournalHome was under new management.  Does that mean our blogs will remain as they are or what.  I haven't heard anything further so I don't really know if I should put more content here or not.  Anyone else heard anything more?  Thanks in advance. - Dari

2/10/2006 - *A Bitchin' Blog*

Yum, I have a delicious bitchin'  treat for you this week!  Like to read blogs that are factual yet still funny to the point you hate to leave the page?  The this one is for you!  My new blog tenant this week is none other than the.....BITCHET.  I've seen many "bitchy" blogs before, hell I have one myself, tee hee.  However, the BITCHET had me cracking up.  She has this post about laundry, cheerios, and a dog, that had me laughing so hard I had to run pee while there was still time to keep my jeans dry. :-)

Now I realize that most of you people swing by here, never comment, and move on.  But take a moment (for once in your boring life) and do something to entertain yourself.  Go visit the BITCHET and live for once!  Its ral life, its funny, its dramatic, its thought-provoking, and...........its bitchin'!  Hey, what more do you need!  Go on, lift your little paw and click your little mouse.  :-)

She is a housewife and Mom.....but as her blog header and promo pic above says, she is NOT your average housewife!

I would like to post a public THANK YOU to Ant Onaf for his continued efforts to restore JournalHome and keep us all updated.  He has done a tremendous job in restoring everything.  This is NOT an easy thing to do when servers fail.

For those of you who left the site, lost faith, etc.....you obviously have no idea the hard work that goes into a job like this.  Sites DO fail, servers falter, etc etc.  I was shocked by the posts on this site that stated they were moving because of this.  This is the FIRST time I have ever encountered a prob at JournalHome and I still HIGHLY recommend this site to anyone.

Let me say this, this is a FREE site!  You were not asked to pay to host your blog here.  Its not like you lost anything but some post(s).  So, I really don't think any of us had a right to complain, moan, or groan.

I have worked with Networks and computers since 1979 (before some of you were born) and I can assure you, when a server fails it is difficult to restore lost data.  However, Ant Onaf has succeeded!  If anything, I think we all owe him a VERY BIG Thank you!

BTW, I noticed many of you posted that you were mobing to blogger/blogspot.  In case you didn't know it, their servers were most ALL day last Thursday and Friday!  This can happen to ANY site.

Oh wow, my new blog tenant this week has MAJOR impressed me with his blog.  See the thumbnail in my sidebar to visit.  You definitely do not want to miss this one people.  The blog author is Calvin and he is a student in Singapore.  This truly shocked me because I read his blog before noticing his profile and his youthful age.  Calvin writes as though he has live a million lifetimes and his posts are insightful, intelligent, they make you think, and some.....will even make you laugh.  It has been sometime since I enjoyed a blog reading as much as I did this one.  No kidding!

Calvin writes on a variety of topics.  A few of the things that caught my attention at his blog had to do with the war in Iraq counter, his interst in the blog swap program, the fact he states he believes in Free Speech, he boasts he is open-minded, and then he has these words scrolling as you enter his blog:  "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will NEVER forget...how you made them feel."  I love it!  Thats an awesome quote/statement.  And finally, his blog plays music from 3 Doors Down!  If I wasn't sold on all the other great things in his blog, the music certainly got my attention.  I love 3 Doors Down.

So, please take a moment to check out this awesome blog. You are definitely going to enjoy the ride over at Pickin' the nitty-gritty of everyday Singapore and World Affairs.  Its aweome people, don't miss out!

1/16/2006 - *Picture Mommy Dead*
Posted in General

I am looking for a movie I saw years ago called "Picture Mommy Dead".  It starred Don Ameche and Zsa Zsa Gabor.  I have searched Ebay, Amazon, Movies To Go, and everywhere else I can think of.  Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to find this movie for purchase?  Its a horror flick released in 1966.

Take a good hard look at the photo folks.  This is one of my newest and dearest friends Stephanie who blogs over at MYSTICKAL INCENSE & MORE BLOG.  So why am I apologizing to her?  Read on..........

Stephanie has almost every single one of my blogs rented this week via BlogExplosion and I am so far behind on my posts that I haven't even given her a decent plug this week.  So, thats why I am extending my most heartfelt apologies to her.

Its easy to plug Stephanie, her blog, and her shop MYSTICKAL INCENSE & MORE SHOP for a number of reasons.  First, I have read her blog daily for the last two weeks and I am hooked.  She tells it like it is and I like that in a person.  Secondly, she is talented as hell.  She does graphic designs, site reviews, and layouts like you wouldn't believe.  She is gifted to say the least.  And last but certainly NOT least, her store ROCKS!  It really does.  If you missed my post about items I ordered from her.............then scroll down and check out my review.  I will definitely be ordering again very soon!  The stuff is that GOOD!

So, if you missed visiting Stephanie and her mystickal incense.....why not go on over now and see what all this fuss I am making over her is really about.  Hey, at least tell her hello!  :-)

Well now.... its a new week which means the Bitchin' Blonde has taken on another new blog tenant.  With several bids to sort through, all bidding blogs were worthwhile reads.  So thanks to all who bid for my space.  You were ALL great!

But, I could only choose one!  The thumbnail to your right might get just a little crowded if I had more than that, lol.  When I saw I had a bid from THE FAT Li'L WYTCH, I knew SHE was the one to win the bid without a doubt.  With myself being bitchy, witchy, and Wiccan.........I felt a connection as soon as I visited her site.  It rocks, it rolls, its a bitchin witch site.  I love it!

She is a web designer, a self-described "Kitchen Witch", and Pagan.  What better blend for a blog are you gonna find out there.  She also mixes it up with a bit of homelife and humor.  Its a great blog, so be sure and check it out.

Oh by the way, she has awesome taste as a blog landlord herself.  Afterall, she is renting to Miss Ann Thrope this week.  And ya'll know how much I LUV Miss Ann.

Did I mention she has a cat named DEMON?  Ya gotta love it.  I have high hopes of introducing my cat SKIDROW to DEMON, lol.  Can you imagine the mischief those two could create?

My fave quote from the Fat Li'l Wytch's page is:  "Steal my stuff and I'll track you down and hang your balls from my bike chain" How bichin' is that?   Admit it peeps, it RULES! :-)

So, grab your broom and fly on over and give THE FAT LI'L WYTCH a big ole Merry Meet.

Look to the left in my sidebar!  Yeah, go ahead, it won't bite you for God's sake.  Anyway, see that NEW sexy green thumnail over there?  Well, at least its new to me.  And I gotta tell you peeps, I am so glad the blog author found me.

The site belongs to MISS ANN THROPE  Finally, a site that bitches in a style that I could quickly become addicted too.  Yep, Miss Ann just lets it all hang out!  Until Miss Ann rented my blog space on Blog Explosion, I had not yet had the pleasure of visiting.  But, now that I am in "the know".....I will be a regular reader.  Miss Ann is funny, straight-forward, and even gives advice on some topics you just won't believe! So go on, what the hell you waiting for........SANTA????  Click the thumbnail and check her out.

A sample quote from her site reads: "Don't piss in my pool and I won't shit in your yard."   I mean, come on people..........how much plainer can a person make it?  I love it!  Go on over and read a bit at Miss Ann's or take it a step further and ask for advice.  Its an experience you won't soon forget!

Posted in Mood Swings

Okay, okay, lets face it....everyone has a bad day every now and then. Well before you fo any further, I´m warning you..........TODAY WAS MINE! Its not been pretty and the emotional forecast looks BLEAK, lol.

I am off work all week, so I think to myself, I will just play around the net, visit a few sites, have a little fun, etc etc. You know the drill. I had planned to WASTE time. Now, I have to tell you, this post is not intended to offend anyone else, it is to get shit off my chest that just irritates the heck out of me. Keep in mind, all these creepy irritants arose while I was surfing blogs on blog explosion. Here we go...........

1. I have determined that the two most OVER-USED words on the net are "Hun" and "Yup". First off, you do not know me well enough to call me hun if I have never been to your site right? I don´t find the term amusing in any way, shape, form, or fashion and quite frankly am sick to death of seeing it everywhere I go,

2. As for the word "Yup", why not just say YES, YEAH, RIGHT, OKAY, etc. What the hell is UP with "YUP". Geeez people, where did you get your diploma from. The antique Sears & Roebuck Wish Book. If so, I hate to be the one to point this out, but.....that hasn´t been in print for YEARS! Are you with me?

3. There were several blogs which do nothing more then "cut and paste" the daily news to attract readers. I will assume that the blog owner thinks these people have no net access or tv and cannot get this news otherwise. Did it occur to the blog owner that IF these people have no net access, then obviously they can´t see the freakin´ blog either???? No net, no blog, get it?

4. Then there are the people who moan and groan because they get no comments. Well maybe if you did host your blog on a site that requires SIGNING UP or LOGGING IN, you might just get a few more.

5. And last but not least, are the blogs that have the PAYAPL logo on them and are BEGGING for donations. WTF! How in the hell are you paying for your internet? Get off the net and save those dollars and you might not need a donation. I want to donate so you can keep blogging about something I am NOT interested in WHY????? No not me, I would do just as well to throw money out the window.

So anyway, now that I have said all this, its probably gonna do one of two things. Either shock people or piss them off. But hey, this is MY blog and those are MY thoughts. So they are staying right here. If there is any part of this that is not clear....then ask yourself.........Whats YOUR sign? Have a lovely day otherwise!

P.S. As for the logo button above on Pro-Choice. Thats for every man who visits the page who wants to rant and rave about a condition he will NEVER have. However, if any man out there has ever been preggers, you just let me know and I´ll take the button down.

12/10/2005 - *Ask the Soldiers*
Posted in Noteworthy News

My new blog tenant(s) this week are soldiers.  Yes indeed, I am very proud to have them here this week.  With my son and daughter-in-law both in Iraq as I write this post, it somehow makes me feel closer to them knowing the soldiers from ASK A SOLDIER are available to answer any questions I may have.  Have you ever wondered what its really like over there in Iraq for our brave Military men and women?  Well now is your chance to ask someone who actually knows.  Please visit ASK A SOLDIER.  Even if you have no questions for them.....leave them a message of support and encouragement.  If nothing else, just say "thank you".  They deserve every thoughtful comment and word of praise for what they are doing.  As you all know, I posted about my participation in the march on Washington to protest this senseless war, however I have always supported the men and women of our Military and will continue to do so.  As a matter of fact, I recently adopted a platoon from the adopt-a-platoon program.  Now, go over to ASK A SOLDIER and let them know you care.  Tell them I Dari sent you.  I ask each of you who visit here at my blog to remember as you prepare for you holiday celebrations, that these men and women are thousands of miles from home and family.  So please go over and say Happy Holidays to them.  You'll feel better for it, I promise.

12/10/2005 - *Happy Holidays*
Posted in General

May your days be merry and bright.........and may all your Christmases be white.  I am no longer "dreaming" of a white Christmas.  Since moving to IL from Florida, there is plenty of the white stuff all over the place as I type this.  I'll post a "snow photo" a bit later.  My message to each and everyone who visits is to have a very Merry Christmas and a bright and blessed New Year.  Be safe!

12/2/2005 - *Palm Tree Princess*
Posted in Noteworthy News

A luscious blanket of sparkling snow fell over the city night before last.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.  Being from W. Palm Beach, I am used to much warmer weather then Illinois throws at me, lol.  I usually go to my Mother's in TN for Christmas and hope for snow for that ONE day only.  So, waking up to that horrid cold stuff did nothing for me!  As a matter of fact, I got depressed.  Silly as it sounds, there is something about ice and snow that just gets me down.  Brrrrrrrr.

Anyway, I cruised on over to BlogExplosion here on the net looking for something new to read in hopes of cheering up a bid.  I am rarely ever down but lets face it...........when snow falls.........I get totally homesick for the sandy beaches of W. Palm and it takes me a day or so to snap out of it.  So, when I get to BlogExplosion, I see I have over 9 bids to rent my little piece of blog space over in my left sidebar.  None of them were bad blogs, but I was searching for just the right one to be my new blog tenant this week.  I was about to give up, when SNAP...........there it was.  The perfect blog tenant!  The author refers to herself as the PALM TREE PRINCESS.

Oh my, thats all it took.  My mind drifted off to Florida, my former house with the private cove, the sand, the sun, etc.  Suddenly my mood elevated and FAST!

The Palm Tree Princess is a 30-something Mom who writes on just about everything you can imagine.  This is not an average "Mommy Blog".  Its funny, witty, creative, etc.  I bore easily and anything that gets my attention has got to be something.  Go on over and check her out.  I think you'll enjoy your visit.  And hey, if you DO go, take time to leave her a comment and make her feel appreciated.  Afterall, she is a Princess.  :-)

12/1/2005 - *World Aids Day*

World AIDS Day
Stop AIDS: Keep the Promise

World AIDS Day is a yearly, global event started in January 1988 to promote awareness and action in the fight against HIV/AIDS. According to UNAIDS estimates, there were 37.2 million adults and 2.2 million children worldwide living with HIV at the end of 2004. During the year 4.9 million people became newly infected with the virus. Around half of all people who become infected with HIV do so before they are 25 and are killed by AIDS before they are 35. Around 95% of people with HIV/AIDS live in developing nations. But HIV today is a threat to men, women and children on all continents around the world. In Africa alone, more than 17 million people have died from AIDS and another 25 million are infected with the HIV virus, approximately 1.9 million of whom are children. Every day in Africa, HIV/AIDS kills 6,300 people. 8,500 people are infected with the HIV virus and 1,400 newborn babies are infected during childbirth.

This event is sponsored by THE ONE CAMPAIGN to end poverty, world hunger and Aids.  Today, they will air their very first podcast nationwide.  To learn about their causes or to hear the cast, please visit THE ONE CAMPAIGN.  Let your voice be heard by sending a message to your local politicians direct from their site.

11/30/2005 - *Daily Confessional*
Posted in True Confessions

Sometime ago, I posted about starting a True Confessions category here in my blog.  Well its time to get the category started.  Every now and then, I will tell you something about my life that I have done.  Again, keep in mind that the confessions may have happened recently OR they may have happened years ago. (I'll never tell for sure)  This category may include many things such as secrets I would not want known to people who know me, or just things about my life in general that I have never shared before.  Some may cause you to gasp while others may make you wonder, lol.  Either way, I declare that everything you will read in my Daily Confessional is the honest truth.  Afterall, its my life............why should I lie?

  • I was once a cam girl (nothing slutty or nude) for an online site.
  • I am a "bottled" blonde. Was brunette all my life till last year.
  • Christmas is my least favorite holiday
  • I have been married more then once.
  • I am a blog addict
  • Before going to law school, I attended Nursing School but never completed my degree in Nursing.

11/21/2005 - *Headed To Iraq*
Posted in Noteworthy News

The above photo was taken last year at my sons AIT graduation.  He enlisted with the Army straight out of high school as he always said he would do.  We always knew he would go to Iraq at some point.  I have been blessed to have him stateside so far, but that has now changed.  He got his orders.  So this will be a very special Thanksgiving for our family.  My son married his fiance' on November 2, 2005.  She too is headed to Iraq.  She will leave the 28th and my son deploys 2 days later on the 30th.  He has graduated from Cav Scouts and Military Police which is the unit he is now with.  He also received a new rank and was invited to join a very special task force which he accepted.  I will not call the task force by name for his own safety.

I have mixed feelings about his going but have so much pride as well.  He has developed into a fine young man who is and always has been very responsible.  I am so proud of his bravery and the duties he is about to face.  So to him and his new bride I say, "Much love to you both, take good care of each other and come home safe!  I love you".

As a parent, you face many things with your children.  But so far, I think this has got to be the toughest thing I have ever dealt with.  When he called with his orders, I nearly fell apart.  He's a great kid and he knew just what to say.  He said, "Mom, this is why I joined.  Don't worry, don't watch the news, and save me lots of brownies."  I had to laugh at that point.  Godspeed to them both!
