2/8/2006 - *Thank You JournalHome & Ant Onaf*

I would like to post a public THANK YOU to Ant Onaf for his continued efforts to restore JournalHome and keep us all updated.  He has done a tremendous job in restoring everything.  This is NOT an easy thing to do when servers fail.

For those of you who left the site, lost faith, etc.....you obviously have no idea the hard work that goes into a job like this.  Sites DO fail, servers falter, etc etc.  I was shocked by the posts on this site that stated they were moving because of this.  This is the FIRST time I have ever encountered a prob at JournalHome and I still HIGHLY recommend this site to anyone.

Let me say this, this is a FREE site!  You were not asked to pay to host your blog here.  Its not like you lost anything but some post(s).  So, I really don't think any of us had a right to complain, moan, or groan.

I have worked with Networks and computers since 1979 (before some of you were born) and I can assure you, when a server fails it is difficult to restore lost data.  However, Ant Onaf has succeeded!  If anything, I think we all owe him a VERY BIG Thank you!

BTW, I noticed many of you posted that you were mobing to blogger/blogspot.  In case you didn't know it, their servers were most ALL day last Thursday and Friday!  This can happen to ANY site.

I can understand sites failing, what got to me was that somehow my entire account got wiped out and I had to reregister and start from scratch twice, I was about to move elsewhere when I decided to try one more time. Everything seems to be back in order now exepct I cannot get the avatars to work

Servers fail for a variety of reasons but definitely NOT because of a lack of hits, lol. Sometimes its merely a gliche' or bug. More times then not though, its because the server is supporting more blogs then it has ample space for. Sometimes this means a larger server or a software upgrade.

Which avatars are you talking about? The ones in the profiles? So far, I am experiencing no probs with anything. Hope it all worked out for you too and I am glad to see you stayed with JournalHome. I own my own domain and I blog there, but I enjoy blogging here too.

Silverwind, have you emailed support about this? They may still be having probs in certain areas and then again they may not be aware of that yet. Email them and let them know.
