12/14/2005 - How could they say "no", well, I guess there

Thanks to Maureen for the super sweet comment! That's what I love about blogs, even if you assume that nobody reads, it you never know!!!

I guess I did really well last night considering the church turned poor Shawn down just because he isn't a not-for-profit charter. They've known him for eight years! That's what I hate about organized religion. I'm sure God is happy. They chose not to support a (and I hate to use this corny term, he's only 10 yrs. younger than me) fine young man who just wants to teach his art. He would never ever try to pad his pockets and you'd think they'd be able to tell or at least have faith!! So instead, they turn out a polite, hard working, responsible man and the kids who were learning self defense and earning belts...happy people coming through the doors every week. I'm sure Jesus is thrilled. I'll bet Troutdude would rule differently!!  Now Shawn is trying to keep my spirits up when it should be the other way around. He is going to try to get non-profit status (I really don't understand it). He has a tax accountant who also works for the IRS and says it's no problem.  I love having class there, but if they don't want him/us, I won't miss it. It's going to be hard to travel farther because we've got an 8 and 10 yr. old, but hey, I really think things happen for a reason and turn out better in the long run. I am ashamed to be a Lutheran.

In retrospect, I think I understand their decision. It would not have been sustainable.
