Some lady had the nerve to shush me while I was talking with the other adult students because we didn't see the instructor talking. She was just doing major damage control. She sent the instructor an e-mail complaining about the tournament judging and complaining about his abscence. The instructor called me Monday. He wasn't at the tournament because a serious family crisis. He mentioned her and the e-mail. After she shushed me and the instructor began talking about self defense related to what happened to his relative, I said loudly, "I heard that some people actually sent him nasty e-mails complaning that he wasn't at the tournament". I hope she heard!
To top it off, she held up my class for 12 mintues (it's a 40 min. class) re-hashing how her son was wronged at the tournament. The tournament was three days ago. The judge's decision was final. Way to teach the kid how to deal with bad breaks, if she right that is. Her heartbroken son, by the way, was not as his mother's side seconding everything she said and giving his own account, he was wandering around staring at the walls, the floor, etc. He didn't look like he was even aware, let alone cared! Next time, she can just eliminate a step and fight the little kid opponent herself! Hey, I think I should have won too, but instead of arguing and pulling my hair out, I looked at it this way: I scored twice with kicks. This is my third tournament in a row scoring with kicks. Kicks have always been my weak point in sparring, now I'm getting a reputation as a kicker!! I probably did win! Most importantly, if I'm ever attacked and I start thinking, "I'm so scared that my brain and legs are completely nonfunctional, I'll remember the tournament and realize that even with extreme anxiety, I can still function! I'm happy!
