Everything was wonderful! I wasn't even the only female there, surprise. Laura gave me a warm smile and hello when I came to the mat. Nobody said a word until class started, but after that, everything was great. There were seven people and the instructor; two were blue belts. We switched partners fairly frequently and no one seemed to mind being paired up with me. I just have to write down what we did before I forget the details!

Armbar from the guard: Snake hand under their hand and grab triceps (cross grab). Other hand grabs HIGH on their back. Push them down toward the triceps hand. Unlock legs and AT THE SAME TIME shoot them in the air, continuing to push them down with the far leg. Go for armbar.

Mount escape A: Elbows in!!!! Pull 'non-grabbed' lapel down so they can't grab it for a choke. Look toward that direction. Grab their arm with both your hands. Keep your leg on the side toward which you will roll until now so they can't hook it. Now hook their leg. Bump straight back. Roll, guiding them with your far leg. End up in guard. Block bicep.

Mount escape B: (much harder). Leg flat on floor so they can't hook. Elbow to your knee on that side to push out. Go to other side and push on their knee with both hands. Get as much extension as possible on each shrimp. Go to the other side and push on their shoulder. When opposite knee comes out, go to closed guard.

If going for mount escape A, and when you go to hook the leg, they stand up on it, push with both hands and shrimp to go to escape B.

I am so going to have to bring up the running warm-up drill; I kept up just fine, but now my shin splints are killing me. I'm sure it won't be a problem. I have to remember to always get up from the downed position. There was another new person who, of course, had to be shown how to do this and a few other things. The poor guy probably thought I'm a genius. He did much better with the regular moves than I would have done if I hadn't had the background!

In less than 24 hours, I'm back in the mma world without missing a beat!
