Sensei Jeannette taught today. We did sticks since Arnis is a Filipino stick fighting system and my style, Arnis de Mano is the empty-handed derivative which hasn't abandonded sticks completely. We practiced defending the 12 angles of attacks which include swings to the eyes, top of head, knees, and pokes to the eyes, chest and midsection. It's not as brutal as it sounds. It's all very controlled practice among friends. We also defended against empty-handed strikes delivered from the very same angles, to show that it's the same thing as with a stick; mainly just the distance changes.  I wasn't perfect, but my head doesn't spin like it used to and I'm pretty happy with how I did. One really really sad note. Sensei Jeannette passed around a card for everybody to sign. Ling is leaving; moving to Indiana. I will truly feel the loss as will everyone else.
