3/11/2007 - Sunday

Not much. My shin splints are in a really bad flare up, so I'm going to have to make decisions on how severely to limit training and that really scares me. This morning we ran through our mutual practice log, which consisted of 'leg locks' and 'steering wheel sweeps'. I took the opportunity to show Joe a takedown I learned during BJJ that is similar. I also showed him a correction I was given during my 'getting up from a downed position' warmup drill. Instead of shooting the first leg straight back, he has me put it directly behind the hand that is already planted on the ground, thus giving me a broader base. I'm not up to analyzing the pros and cons of both methods, but this way gives me more muscles to push up with and I don't feel like I could fall on my face. Not sure how well I could continue to backup, though.

I also went through my IK class white belt self-defense and one of the yellow belt moves. I had an asthma attack today. I had two episodes over the summer that I strongly felt were asthma. I had them in while working with our pet mouse's cage; he died and we didn't replace him. Today's was triggered by changing our parakeet's bedding. I wasn't struggling to breathe, but my throat definitely felt constricted and I had a hard time talking because I became fatigued, and well kind of phelgmy. (Remind me to write that in a Christmas card A favorite radio show of mine has an annual feature called, "Merry Medical Christmas". People send them letters they've received from people who find it necessary to tell them horrible medical details. This year, there was no shortage of 'pus'.) I went outside and I really could hear wheezing. It's scarry because I don't know how sensitized I will become and to what. Oh well, I guess it could be worse. The birds were really way overdue for a change. I guess my plugged nose was d/t the keets. What is thier life expectancy?  That long?  Oh well. Could be worse.

Sweetheart thank you for visiting my site and your kind words and support I have missed you, also I know how supportive of Barbaro as was I, and offer my condolences to you...He put up a brave fight like a true champion but the vet made a decision to put Barbaro to sleep I don't know if it was the correct one, maybe it was. What I do know is that I loved that horse very much and made a donation to a horse fund in his name.

Take care of yourself sweetheart esply. your asthma ease up on the martial arts and take care of Fightingfemale so she can be the best fighting female ever!
(((((((((((((((((((((Get well hugs and kisses)))))))))))))))

I'm sorry to hear about your breathing/asthma, that must have been scary indeed. You have to take it a bit easy or you maybe do a lot more damage to leg...not good! It would be better to take it easy and go on with this hobby/sport you love than to do irreparable damage and never be able to continue. But we are all masters of our fate and only we can decide what path to run. Don't mean to lecture you...But pleeeeease take care and stay safe, happy and in one piece. Love and (((((((HUGS)))))))) from Dawnie. XXXX__ :-) ('.') :-)
