Not much. Went to class this am where I got to work some of my locks in conjunction with the higher-belt curriculum, which was ways to counter attempts by people trying to put me into these locks. The principles made very good sense. I also loved that he had a drill that chains them all together. I was also happy to see that Joe promoted. He has been the same belt since I started on April 27th, 2006 (thanks to Forumer, which shocked me by working again). There's no reason for him to have not promoted in so long. I think he is just laid back and enjoys perfecting whatever class work is assigned, without aggressively pursuing advancement. He sure has helped me. I can tell he's the perfect grandfather. Patient and always smiling.
Strangely my shin splints were worse this morning than they are after class. I wonder what they're up to. I can joke about them because I have two more rays of hope. First, another student went to a chiropractor recommended by the instructor because he had severe back pain. This guy sounds really good and he does accupunture too. I don't have a problem with chiropractors, I tried it when I first was injured. I just don't want to pick one out of the phone book because you never know what you'd get. I trust Ken's judgement because he knows all about that sort of thing. In fact, Ken said today that a Chinese Medicine doctor is going to hold a clinic in our dojo in April. I didn't even need to hear the incredible success stories to know that I definitely wanted in. I'm sure SilverWind would approve! What I wouldn't give to be able to walk the dogs for couple of blocks again, or move boxes for school fundraisers. Once practically a compulsive exerciser, I can't believe how used to sitting I've become.
I'll go to class tonight, but reluctantly. We have a babysitter from across the street and I feel guilty about cancelling on the poor thing all the time. Also, my husband and I have been working the same two moves for two months and I don't need to tell you that we would like to test out of them so we can move onto something else--anything else. I keep telling myself that I survived class last Thursday plus a 1/2 hr. private lesson, I just don't believe it.Well, I'm off to make more ice for tonight!
P.S. Did everybody hear that the boy scout missing for four days in NC was found safe? Of course a dog found him!!
