Yes, this is an ambitious New Years' Resolution and the rest of you slackers should be ashamed of yourself. While you are out there quitting smoking, ending world hunger and working for world peace, I will be ......Eating Stand O' Food! The object of this game is to quickly assemble customers' orders before they get angry and leave. The "money" you earn can be used to buy upgrades to make more money (e.g. various condiments) or items to keep customers happy longer (e.g. jukebox). I like that although the customers don't request condiments, you can add them to their food and charge them as much as $20.50 extra for them. The game has about 100 levels and boy can I sit there and mindlessly play it for the longest times.
There is an author who wrote a book ("The Know It All" I think) about reading the encyclopedia was, the last I heard, writing a book called, "A Year of Living Biblically" in which he tries to live according to the bible literally. That's where I got the idea for the name. I also got the idea for a year theme instead of just a resolution from a newspaper column awhile back called, "Tomorrow is Today". Instead of general self--improvement, people strived toward a specific goal, (learning to play a certain song on the guitar for example). Having not watched many movies, I chose to watch all the Academy Award Best Picture winners in one year. I had a blast and found movies that I bought but would never had chosen to watch on my own (The Life of Emile Zola, Mrs. Miniver, You Can't Take It With You--great stuff!). The funny thing is that somehow I missed one and ended up watching "Saving Private Ryan" on New Years' Eve. I was so desensitized to bloody movies by then that I remember sitting there saying, "Come on, come on, hurry up".
Back to the game: Stand O' Food must be Japanese and I find the English quaint and entertainment (I'm NOT making fun of it; for goodness sakes, the only things I can say in Japanese are sake, Fukudome, Benihana, and sushi). I don't mean to be patronizing, but I find the spellings and phrasings to be cute. So they have this "Cookery Book" in which they list the "Sandwitches" in case you need to look them up. They have cute names like when they add lettuce it's "Fresh O' Meat". I intend to eat my way through the book this year. I'm hoping to get some unsuspecting family member to join me.
