1/14/2008 - Please don't think I'm being mean...
Posted in Unspecified

Don't know if I mentioned it, but when my son and I went on our annual trip to Michigan, we saw this interesting tour group with matching pink jackets. There was nothing else to do while sitting around the airport than to try to figure out who they were. I ended up thinking they were students from a religious college because they were very quiet and seemed to be doing homework. Still, they looked too flashy, coordinated and polished; they were some sort of performers, I concluded. "Oh no, the poor thing", I said to my son as I noticed one boy among all the girls. I figured he played/sang a male role, but kind of felt sorry for him in that sea of  pink and royal (well, the royal was ok). Too shy to ask/strike up a conversation, we were able to catch sight of the name. I will split it up because I really really like this group and don't want google searchers to land here. Name part 1:  Psynch

I had my husband look it up and found out that they are a skating team. I had never heard of team skating, like syncrhonized swimming. Again, I'm hedging on the name of the sport too. Their site said that they always get compliments on their good behavior.  They even mentioned that they help each other with their homework.  Highly accurate! I e-mailed them highly complimentary thoughts of my own (and you thought that all I could write were complaint letters.

Name part 2:  roPa

I mean really, can you imagine being stuck on a plane or in an airport with 20+ students and not having them be obnoxious. In fact, I feel guilty. These girls should have some fun, after all. When I was in band, the group was loud enough to be heard, but hopefully funny/entertaining. Not insulting or vulgar. I can't stand that. So today I checked the site again because I sure would like to see a competition if they ever came to this area. Sounds great! They had a team picture, and there they were with their sweet, fresh-faced, polished selves. Then I spotted the boy. Oh dear redux. There he is in the middle of the second row. Couldn't they get him a more masculine costume? Maybe even like male figure skaters. That off the shoulder thing just isn't working for him. It looks like someone stuck a picture of  his head on the shoulders of a girl. We hope he that at least he is not wearing a skirt. See what you think.

Name part 3: nache.
