Didn't I (and everybody else) learn from Barbaro? I swear I am never watching horse racing again. I will be tempted if a horse has a chance at the Triple Crown, but I'm going to try not to pay attention to it. I know I'm naive, but all these people care about is money. They use excuses like horses need to run. Yes, but not to death. Human athletes die suddenly too. Yes, but our local track had 17 fatal injuries in one season alone. That's just one track out of probably hundreds/thousands. This really really really makes me sick. I'm sure that most owners don't even try to save an injured race horse because the cost is high and their income potential is already lost. I am so sick.

Yeah, this angers me too. It's a worldwide problem that injured racehorses are put to death. I know of one organization in my country that has about five formerly injured racehorses on its farm, but the rest of em...

Didn't that legendary horse from at least two movies, Seabiscuit, get severely injured even before all its successes? Guess those trainers can't muster up enough patience to work with recovering horses along with the rest of the animals... Sad.

It is true that horse racing is a bussiness, but the one thing to keep in mind, is that even with modern advancemnets horses and horse injuries are very tidious and difficult to take care of. It is not like a dog or a cat. In many cases there really is very little that can be done, and the animals are often in an emense deal of pain. Large animals like that, are very delicate and very difficult when they become injured. That is not to say there does not exisit some problems in the industry, there usually does when money is envolved but there is also always more than one angle
