Ok, I've officially had it with Olympic swimming. I think I showed patience. I got into it. I cheered for the top American swimmers, swimmers from other countries I like, swimmers that caught my interest, etc. Now show something else, please!!
I have the same with judo, although fortunately the Olympic judo ended yesterday. We have seven medals now (actually eight, the Ynglyng sailing race only has to finish now), and five of them come out of judo, so that's what's being shown, reshown, and then shown some more, on Dutch TV.
Judo, however, is a sport in which about 95% of all matches is decided on penalties for inactivity. The person who taps the shins of his or her opponent the most is the least inactive, gets the least penalties, and wins. Somehow that does not excite me.
Still, I have two huge advantages over the both of you. A) Most of our Olympic coverage is live. If I get up at four in the morning I don't have to miss a thing. B) I receive TV stations from Belgium, Germany, the UK, France and Spain, that all show the Olympics, and each focuses on the sports that their athletes are good at.
You are being screwed by NBC. Believe me, I know how bad you have it from my own experience. During the first week of the Sydney Olympics I was traveling in the US, and it was really annoying to read the results in the Arizona Republic, before NBC showed the footage on TV. The Dutch won eight gold medals while I was in the states, and seeing events unfold live, would have added that much more to the excitement.
Anyways, we're also good at track cycling, so the coming days, that's what I expect to be rocked to sleep with at high noon.
