Well as a great Yankees fan it was good news for me to see Alex Rodriguez winning the MVP, small compensation I suppose, for the Yankees not making a World Series appearence this year but at least its good news for all Yankees fans. Rodriguez, 30, who first won the award as a shortstop with the Texas Rangers in 2003, is the first Yankees player to win since Don Mattingly was honored in 1985. Rodriguez played in all 162 games this year and made only 12 errors for a .971 fielding percentage. He led the American League in home runs with 48, ranked fourth in R.B.I. with 130 and finished second in batting average at .321.
