It has come to my attention today that a close and dear and close friend was humiliated today and by all people a catholic priest! Now let me preface this by saying that my friend was appropiately and conservatively attired a skirt suit, button bouse to the neck and high heeled pumps. Now she serves as a Eucharistic Minister. Well it seems that this priest verbally berated her for wearing high heels. Now bear in mind that there is NOTHING in scripture or catholic canon law that prohibits these shoes! I have often worn and love them.
To me this is simply another example misogynistic behavior by the catholic clergy!
When she told me this she was in tears and I was outraged I wanted to confront the priest but she begged me not to, so iIrelented to please her and tried to comfort her.
What the priest did was outragous!
If a woman was attired as lets say a prostitute and maximum cleavage and a micro mini on or low rider jeans I could say a priest has a valid case but that was not the case here
I'm simply outraged as a woman and on behalf of my friend
Sorry priests, we women will continue to wear high heels and priests need to respect that, we will wear them with great dignity and respect but its NOT a priest's place to dictate our footwear. Maybe this priest is intimidated by them....I just dont know If he can't dear with them pardon my french but too goddamn bad! Perhaps you would be better off concentrating on priests molesting children than the shoes we choose to wear!
