Pagans have a high regard for the equality of the sexes, and do not suppress the feminine principle in the way that many other religions seem to do. Pagan Priestesses have the same status as Priests; in sorne traditions, they have primacy in leading the religious practices, a principle that highly appeals to me as a woman
Many Pagans acknowledge the concept of “Elders”; those from the community who, by virtue of their training or experience, have a greater understanding of social, moral and practical matters. Pagans who gather together (either formally or informally) as a group, will often look to those who lead the group for guidance on moral issues and socially accepted behaviour. However, it is a fundamental aspect of Paganism that each individual must accept full responsibility for their own actions. There is no “confession” or other absolution to devolve responsibility to another person, or to God and/or Goddess.
Pagans believe that each individual has the right to worship in their own way; there is no legislation that requires Pagans to follow any prescribed manner of worship. Some Pagans worship in a formal manner; others have a more instinctive and unconscious mode of acknowledging and communicating with Goddess and God. Some Pagans prefer to make their worship a private affair; others gather in groups and make their worship a communion with each other, as well as with their God. Goddess.
Fallacies Pagans are not concerned with perverting the sacred symbols, beliefs, or practices, of any other religion.
Pagans do not perform sacrifices (other than of their own energy and time), and are not opposed to any other religious beliefs. Pagans do not sexually abuse children; quite the contrary. Despite many hysterical claims of sexual abuse by witches and other occultists, none has ever been proven to be true. For a Pagan to abuse a child is total anathema. It is contrary to everything that we hold close to our hearts. Our children are our future, and a part of the ultimate divine source. Pagan children are born in love and unity; they are sacred, and are treated as such.
I typed this to set the record straight about Paganism straight i'm sick, tired and disgusted of Pagainism and Pagans being maligned by extremist evangelical christians or anyone for that matter. Here at journalHome there are many Pagans a few I had the privilage to meet and to be accepted as their friends and mine as well. I met SilverWind, Silver Melusine, Michael etc and they are beautiful loving people and I am proud to know them and have them as my friends and they can count on my love and support. If anyone took the time to get to know them and put their religious bigotry aside they will see what I say is true, they will find them to be nice loving compassionate hard working people like everyone else, and if they just try to reach out and know them. We all have emotions and get hurt and cry like everyone else so treat us with the same respect that you would want for yourselves, isn't christianty about loving thy neighbor, if your neighbor is Pagan you love and reach out to them as well. Hating is a wasted emotion. I have my own form of Paganism I embrace concepts of Paganism and Catholicism and practice both, that is what works best for me but I do not impose that on anyone else, I as am as comfortable with God Bless You as i am with Blessed Be, some choose either one but not both I respect that as well. Hopefully others will wake up and respect Pagans and Their right to practice it. Somewhere along the line I remember the phrase "regardless of race color and creed" key word here is creed, isn't about time we put that into practice?
