Recently, Self Magazine and the National Partnership for Women and Families ran an article titled, "Get More Healthy Perks at Work." They provided advice to get 8 different health benefits:
Health Insurance -- Either partially underwritten by, or fully paid by, your employer. Most large employers at least pay for some health insurance.
Sick Days -- Only about one half of employers give paid sick leave.
On-Site Health Care -- Large employers are more likely to provide this benefit -- and only 24 percent of large employers do so.
Maternity Leave Beyond that Required by the Family and Medical Leave Act -- Point out to your employer that it will save them money to have you come back.
Lactation Support -- It will save your family money! Cigna discovered its lactation program saved $60,000 in reduced absenteeism among new moms.
Child Care Assistance -- Most employers don't provide it, but it doesn't cost very much to do so.
Flexible Work Schedule -- Giving employees flexibility is the best was to increase employee retention!
Affordable Fitness -- About one-third of all employees subsidize gym memberships. And, about 42% of very large employers have on-site gyms.
