Washington Post Republicans are planning to spend the vast majority of their sizable financial war chest over the final 60 days of the campaign attacking Democratic House and Senate candidates over personal issues and local controversies, GOP officials said.

The National Republican Congressional Committee, which this year dispatched a half-dozen operatives to comb through tax, court and other records looking for damaging information on Democratic candidates, plans to spend more than 90 percent of its $50 million-plus advertising budget on what officials described as negative ads.

Well the republicans tried on the issues and lost so it's time to haul out the "same old same old."

In a way this is hilarious. The republicans tried issues and lost. Then the republicans tried character and lost. Now the republicans are falling back on something they are really good at, lies, fear mongering and character assassination.

Looks like 2006 is going to be the same as 2004, 2002, 2000, 1998, 1996, and 1994. The republican bottom feeders are on top of their game. Is the country still too stupid to catch on?
