Even in Georgia, people are busy, or don't have the means, to meet the Voter ID Act. Thus, Judge T. Jackson Bedford Jr., has shot down the state law requiring photo ID's to vote.
A state judge yesterday rejected a Georgia law requiring voters to show government-issued photo identification, writing in his decision, "This cannot be."
Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford Jr. said the law, pushed by Gov. Sonny Perdue (R) to fight voter fraud, violates the state constitution because it disenfranchises citizens who are otherwise qualified to vote.
As John Boehner opines that voter fraud is rampant, and photo ID's would stem voter fraud, he neglects to note that fake ID's are readily available, if you know where to look. Take a moment and think about all the kids that get fake ID to buy beer or cigarettes. Or, the adults that get paid to provide fake ID to illegal aliens. To neglect the fake ID issue is obtuse at the very least.
Which leads to the where the real problem of voter fraud lies.
But the fraud happened primarily in absentee balloting, Barnes said. Under the new law, absentee voters are not required to show identification.
"This is the most sinister scheme I've ever seen," Barnes said, "and it's going on nationwide."
Voting is not a right -- it is the constitutionally given duty of the people. To hinder their voice is repugnant.
