Day two and its a beautiful day in the Garden City

I work in Christchurch so its a drive in of about 35mins, this morning was just delicious, a lovely Spring morning, and it seems to me to be a very appropriate time to be starting on this journey, A really good Spring clean so to speak.

One of the journals I read is a guy from New York who is following the diet of a patient who has had gastric bypass ( he hasnt had one)

first he was on liquids, then purees, then now restricted to 500 calouries, he gyms and is active.  Suits him, he is doing very well, although reading between the lines, he is getting hungry. I for one could not do this, neither could I have the serious surgery. Which brings me to my point, last night after dinner, I sat down to watch McLeods Daughters, I am not a great enthusiastic TV watcher, but I like what I like, only it was not on and instead they played a doco from UK "Supersize Kids"  One segment was about a mother and daughter (daugher under 18) morbidly obese who were going to Belguim for the gastric bypass, anyone see this doco? What stays in my mind is the graphic pics of FAT. Internally covering every organ, FAT around the liver, bowel, and the heart, and the specialist remarking that it is the FAT covering the heart which slows its' ability to work properly.

I have come to a realisation I have the FAT all around my organs, and it must be banished, ( OMG can someone tell me where it goes???) I am focused and on track.

PS I am not in anyway bagging anyone who has had GBS, and as the doco showed, it improved the life of the young girl immensely, and she now sees herself living a worthwhile happy life. - its just not for me!!

Cheers everyone

TIAGF: A beautiful Spring Day, and my two lovely boys!!!

Hi Margaret. I found your blog from M. I will be stopping by regularly to hopefully help with your journey. Good luck this week.

I heard about this doco on Emily's blog (mypinkshorts.blogspot.com) and she too was amazed and appalled by some of the stuff on the show. I hope we get it here because I want to watch it now. But how good that you can watch something and take away one image (as disgusting as it may be) and that helps stick to the daily plan or helps move you in a different way.

I think some of my organs might be fat free now. And I think I know where it all went. Along with the water into the toilet LOL.

Hope you have a super weekend. Weekends are a quieter blogging time for me as I tend to spend time with the boys but I will be checking in on you :)

Fat organs

Yeah, I forgot to talk about the graphic nature of the actual surgery - wasn't it amazing when they showed the abdominal wall / muscles, and then started prodding all the gunky yellow fat all around it!! Gross!!!

I saw a show on Oprah a while ago with a doctor that was showing operations - and one guy was opened around the chest stomach area, and there was a very thick layer of fat!

That really made me more motivated to lose weight!
