Yet another update.

Posted in Unspecified

I have completed a bunch of tests for the new server as well as a new version of the actual blog software.

The new version will have a few new options,

  • A photo album allowing you more flexibility with your images.
  • More than one blog per user
  • The ability to ping
  • The possibility to update your log while on the move, (your mobile).
  • The ability to pod cast
  • Private Mailing list
  • And more.

The reason why I am been so careful is because I want as little disruption as possible.

But if you see some changes in your blog don´t despair, I will try my best to fix it all as soon as soon as you let me know.

I am hoping to move to the new server on Thursday night, (GMT).

That will mean that the blog will be closed for about 12 hours, unfortunately that is the way it works on the internet when you move to a new server.

Once the move is made I will answer all the emails/comments that have been sent.

If you have any questions please, email me or simply send add a comment here.

Looking Forward to it

Hi Florent,

I'm looking forward to the new changes. A lot of these were talked about a long time ago, but they never happened, so it will be nice to see some advances.

This is probably asking a lot, but have you thought about integrating in a blogger type API so that we could write posts in off-line editors?

Thanks again.

Thanks, in all fairness the changes are massive, a lot of it is under the bonnet but there are a few extras as well.

I have also added a process where the database is backed-up every night, just in case...

I am not sure if that is what you mean, but the new version allows you to use your email editor.

You just type an email, send it to the JournalHome server and it will get added automatically.

Florent
