I won't do that again in a hurry!

Posted in News

Ok, so the move to the new server did not go as smoothly as I was hoping, the hosting company made me all kind of promises that they did not keep. But in the end if was my fault, I should have been more careful and I should have done my homework better. I think next time I'll employ someone to do it for me, ('cause if there is a next time then I will buy a new server!).

Of course, no data was lost, (and in any case I still have the old server), and everything has been moved across.

As far as I can tell JournalHome was down for at least 24 hours and there are still some small tweaking problems that can cause the display be messed up.
The main problem is that some service providers, (more precisely name servers), are still trying to connect to the old site and that makes everything look kind of ugly, this was to be expected as the IP address was changed.

Please let me know if you experience any problems, I am running a batch of tests to make sure that everything is still ok. But there is nothing like the human eye to tell me if something is bad.

So, sorry the transfer caused the site to go down for so long. Hopefully this is for the better and in a couple of days it will be nothing more than a bad memory :)

Links to other entries

I have just written an entry in which I have posted two links to other entries I've written. The problem is that "dutchboy1980" appears twice in the URLs they link to. I've added the advise that people who wish to click on the links copy and paste the url into the browser, and alternatively they can click on one of my tags, but it does annoy me. I hope you can fix this.

Don't Blame Yourself!

With all the good you do for JournalHome! You were only trying to make yet another improvement. You can't be responsible for other companies.

Thanks :)

Thanks for the kind words guys.

@DUTCHBOY, I can see what the problem is.
It is a 'feature' of the editor.

I will fix it tonight but it won't fix old entries, only new ones, (so you might have to edit them).

I'll post when this is done.

Thanks

I just discovered the problem has been fixed. If I discover links in old entries, I'll fix it with the HTML editor. Thanks!

Almost...

I am still checking one or two situations to make sure that the problem is 100% fixed.

But it should be ok now...I think.
I'll be finished for sure later today.
