I was looking at the twitter site, (the twitter plugin is down BTW), and I saw a notice that apparently today is blogday. If you use your imagination you can see 3108 could look like blog, (if the '8' is dropped a little).
They claim that it is the third one, but I must admit that I never heard of it until now.
Is it technically possible to block individual entries from search engine queries? I have found a bunch of tags for blocking Google, AOL, and Yahoo!, but the guidelines are too vague for me.
It says how to block search engines from crawling JournalHome entirely, but that's your job, if you ever wanted that. The explanation of how to protect individual entries is unclear to me.
Also, if it did work, would Google, etc., still find the entry on my main page?
There are a few things I might be writing about in the weeks to come, that I think I want to protect from search engines. That's why I'm asking.
It is not very easy to block robots from visiting. Currently robots come around every 10 minutes or so, (so you would need to prevent the entries from appearing on the front page).
There are a few ways, You could add the text
between the
section of your template but that would block all your pages, always.
...and that would not really work as all your friends can list your entries in their template.
...and your rss entries are spidered every 30 minutes or so.
...and your archives are spidered once a day.
You would need to block them all.
Your best bet would be to make your entry only visible to members. As Google and Yahoo are not members they would not see it :).
But in my experience, you can say anything you want. Google/Yahoo seem to be fairly good at giving sites as much freedom of speech as possible.
JournalHome.com has created this blog for the purpose of keeping members and visitors up to date with JournalHome.com site information. The easiest way to stay up to date is by using the RSS/XML feed. Place this URL within your rss aggregator and it will automatically update itself whenever a new journal entry is published.
