2/4/2003 - Membership sites
You know what a paid membership websites are, the ones you have to pay to get in. There are two types of paid membership sites, the most common ones are websites where you pay a small monthly fee but subscribe to 6 months, a year or two, depending on the website. This is great as you can be sure that you will get paid for the next year, all you need are a few people that will pay for the membership and you will have some money every month.
The other type is like selling the membership spots, they pay once but they pay a higher commission. This can be great to come with some quick cash, but in the long run it will probably make you less money than a recurring membership.
You can create a blog with membership area or a forum, it doesn’t matter. The basic concept is to have a free area where users can find plenty of great stuff, but not the one thing that will solve their problem completely, you offer that problem solver in your membership area and you offer much more than that.
This is a simple concept but you have to offer something people would need or wouldn’t mind paying for to learn. Of course you can give incentives like free stuff that is only for paid members, videos, audio tutorials, blueprints and ebooks. The bottom line is you have to offer something useful for people to want to pay money to learn the exclusive stuff. So don’t make the basic mistake of giving your best for free, just offer something useful as bait and to showcase that you know what you are talking about. Once you do that it won’t be long until a first person becomes a paid member on your website.
