Spider-Man can be a fictional superhero appearing in American comics created by Marvel Comics. The was developed by writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artist Steve Ditko, and first appeared from the anthology comic book Amazing Fantasy in the Silver Age of Comics. Lee and Ditko conceived the character as a possible orphan being raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben, in addition to being a teen, suffering the traditional struggles of adolescence together with those of a costumed crime-fighter. Spider-Man's creators gave him super strength and agility, the ability to hang on to most surfaces, shoot spider-webs using wrist-mounted devices of his very own invention, that he calls "web-shooters", and react to danger quickly regarding his "spider-sense", enabling him to combat his foes. And then as part of his life founded his very own company call Parker Industries.

When Spider-Man first appeared during the early 1960s, teenagers in superhero comic books were usually relegated on the role of sidekick for the protagonist. The Spider-Man series broke ground by featuring Peter Parker, the high school student behind Spider-Man's secret identity with whose "self-obsessions with rejection, inadequacy, and loneliness" young readers could relate.[1] While Spider-Man had every one of the makings of a sidekick, unlike previous teen heroes such as Bucky and Robin, Spider-Man had no superhero mentor like Captain America and Batman; he thus had to learn for himself that "with great power there should also come great responsibility"-a line included in a text box within the final panel from the first Spider-Man story but later retroactively related to his guardian, the late Uncle Ben.

Marvel has featured Spider-Man in a number of comic book series, creation longest-lasting being titled The astounding Spider-Man. In the past, the Peter Parker character is promoting from shy, nerdy high school graduation student to troubled but outgoing pupil, to married high school teacher to, in the late 2000s, an individual freelance photographer. From the 2010s, he joins the Avengers, Marvel's flagship superhero team. Spider-Man's nemesis Doctor Octopus also took about the identity for a story arc spanning 2012-2014, following a body swap plot in which Peter generally seems to die. Separately, Marvel has additionally published books featuring alternate versions of Spider-Man, including Spider-Man 2099, showcasing the adventures of Miguel O'Hara, the Spider-Man into the future; Ultimate Spider-Man, showcasing the adventures of the teenaged Peter Parker within an alternate universe; and Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, which depicts the teenager Miles Morales, who takes up the mantle of Spider-Man after Ultimate Peter Parker's supposed death.

Spider-Man is probably the hottest and commercially successful superheroes. As Marvel's flagship character and company mascot, she has appeared in countless varieties of media, including several animated and live-action tv series, syndicated newspaper comic strips, plus a number of films. The was basically portrayed in live action by Nicholas Hammond from the 1977 television movie Spider-Man. In films, Spider-Man has become portrayed by actors Tobey Maguire (2002-2007) and Andrew Garfield (2012-2014),while Tom Holland portrays the inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, first appearing in Captain America: Civil War in 2016. Reeve Carney starred as Spider-Man in the 2010 Broadway musical Spider-Man: Let down the Dark. Spider-Man has been well received as a superhero and comic strip character and it is usually ranked among the greatest comic book characters of all time alongside DC Comics characters such as Batman and Superman.
