Saturday, March 17, 2007 - A Dark Thought
Posted in Dark Thoughts

I wonder if Miss Ginger of the Grand Manor is really a good title. Although the doll's name is Miss Ginger, I really like the title The China Doll. I know this is trivial, but for some reason when I look at this doll sitting in my yarn basket, The China Doll feels right. The story is taking on a life of its own. The doll is taking on a life of its own.  The question remains what will the doll do? I grew up with this doll. I know what it can do. The old woman plays such a key role in this story and as of yet her identity has not been revealed. Do you know who she is?

Have you ever tried to find something only to discover that it is not where you put it or thought you put it? Is that because you didn't put it there or because it was moved? Does it mean something or someone has somehow interfered with your life in some way? What if a doll or some other thing had an impact or influence on you in some way? Maybe not always in a good way.
Did you have an imaginary friend growing up?  My sister did. It was one of the creepiest things that can happen. There is someone you love talking to someone who is not there. Well, not there to you. That doesn’t mean that there is really no one there. What if there really is someone there. And it is the innocence of youth that allows you to "see."

Have you ever tried to find something only to discover that it is not where you put it or thought you put it?

That happens to me all the time though usually it ends up reappearing in the very first place I looked, even though there is no way I could have not seen it when I looked there teh first time.

Wednesday, March 21, 2007 - Names and then...the Imagination
Posted by DarthTsynn
I hate titles just as much as I hate to see missing
punctuation marks in a post that I thought was JUST
dandy *refers to his latest errors*.

I've seen others slip the title fight by using Shakespeare
quotes. Didn't Star Trek do that? "Dagger of the mind's
eye," etc. And the way I feel, and I know you feel this
too, if the title isn't right, then you just given up one of
your biggest rhetorical devices ever. I guess that's
why I've slipped up and started using one word titles
and numbers with them. Looks so post-modern.

On imaginary friends.
I used to have night time visitors. Real? I don't
know what that word means...really. But they
did try to make me afraid. But, me being me, I
fought right back. Spiritual gung-fu to the rescue.
I don't think my gremlins are brave enough to try
to steal any of my belongings. I dare them!

So...where's the next chapter?

Also...why the hell is it so difficult to write an
ending? What the hell is up with that one?

Wednesday, March 21, 2007 - Response to the ending dilemma
Posted by YankeeInnkeeper
I think the story is over when it's over. The characters stop and bring things to a conclusion. It's probably hard to write an ending when your characters are not finished telling the story. You may be bored with their story, but they are not! Endings come when the story is over. And that's that... (Is that a pearl of wisdom? Doubt it!)
