Happy Fourth of July!
A special thank you goes out to my sister, Jo, for helping with the Fourth of July barbeque for our guests at the Genesee Country Inn. The lazy pierogi was fabulous. One of our guests even asked for the recipe! The menu was simple but fun: barbeque chicken with our own honey barbeque sauce, potato salad (Jo’s unique recipe), corn-on-the-cob, fresh spring green salad with grape tomatoes, a vegetable tray with homemade jalapeño herb vegetable dip, seedless watermelon slices, and our traditional cheesecake with blueberry, strawberry, and cherry topping (very festive!). Everyone had their choice of beverage. This was such as success, RJ and I decided that for next year, we will advertise this event with tickets to the Genesee Country Village and Museum. We had 5 rooms this year. I suspect we will fill up long before the fourth. One of our guests told his wife, he would come back just for the food alone. I was very proud and happy that our guests had such a good time. In fact, dinner lasted 2 ½ hours. I don’t think anyone wanted to call it a night. We had an exceptional group of people. Thank you to all our guests who made this a smashing success. But all good things must eventually end as did our evening. Jo, thank you for the raggedy Anne and Andy dolls. They are beautiful and fit so well into the Inn. Oh, and the confetti – perfect. I just love those little cut-out plastic/aluminum things that you put in my cards that fall all over the floor, table and me. Your thoughtfulness does not go unnoticed. We appeared in US Airways magazine June 2007. It currently is in all the US Airways aircrafts across the country. www.usairwaysmagazine.com I currently have the article saved as a pdf. so I can send it to Michael and he can upload it onto our web site. So many good things have been happening, but best of all, we meet some of the nicest people ever. I know I keep saying that, but truer words were never spoken. Today we had a couple from Chicago. She was in a wheelchair most of the time. She loved the property and our dogs. Originally from Cuba, she arrived in this country as a young girl of 7 and began her new life here in the States. She was so interesting and demonstrated so much courage as she manages with her illness. I pray that I could be as strong when I need to.
