It´s hard to believe that we have just celebrated our 1st anniversary of owning the Inn and it´s the Inn´s 25th anniversary! Wow! What a great combination! So now RJ and I are planning to host an open house to celebrate our first year here at the Inn next month. Could be fun"¦
This past weekend was the 25th anniversary of the Civil War Reenactments at the Genesee Country Village and Museum. Several of the reenactors stayed with us at the Inn. Then Union and Confederates were well represented. The Battle of Bull Run was reenacted in all its glory on Saturday, July 21st. It was really something to see. Several of my guests are reserving for next year, since we fill up pretty quickly.
While at the museum this year, I found Miss Pat. She is an extraordinary seamstress. Her clothing is beautiful and her workmanship impeccable. Of course, that means I bought one of her dresses when I´m working at the Inn. It´s a gorgeous blue plaid with piping and a pleated skirt. Of course, I had to purchase the 4-bone hoop skirt. What I don´t have are drawers and a petticoat, but those I think I can sew. It will be so cool to greet guests dressed up in period clothing.
I remember when we first bought the Inn; I spent most of my time surviving. I was learning a whole new job and creating a whole new life. After about 6 months, I started working on the needs of the Inn. What were those things that we needed to do to make the Inn a better place for our guests. By the time RJ moved here, we began planning the restoration of the property. Now over a year later, it´s all about the details.
RJ and I work so hard to provide a serene and peaceful place for your guests. We are truly living the dream.
