So we’ve done a deep dive on essences vs. serums and essences toners vs. toners. And that we thought it was about time to give a little wish to another recent skincare hotword - ampoules.
Ampoules are incredibly concentrated treatments which might be used to target skin concerns such as facial lines, dullness and rough texture, and infuse skin having a natural glow. They generally can be found in smaller sizes because of the concentration and a few brands even sell them in multiple one-time use vials or capsules as being a special treatment program.
We have lots of questions on how to integrate ampoules in your skincare routine, so without further ado, listed here are 5 easy solutions to glowing skin by having an ampoule:
1. Instead of your regular serum
There’s no rule that ampoules can’t be utilized for a serum - fundamentally the treatment step of your respective routine. Both ampoules and serums are created to penetrate efficiently to the skin and generate a concentrated dose of beneficial ingredients. Use after prepping skin with cleansing and toning, and follow with a moisturizer to seal in the ampoule.

2. As 2~3 week ‘skincare bootcamp’
Ampoules are formulated to enhance routine, so if you desire to go a step further, it’s a great way to get more actives into your skin before your serum. Use several drops of the favorite ampoule, then your usual serum and follow using your moisturizer. An order where you can use products can be confusing, but a simple way to remember is always to begin with probably the most viscose (ie. runny, thin, more fluid) and after that move to thicker textures.
3. Several drops in your cream
Ampoules not simply have anti-aging ingredients, but some also provide hydrating ingredients. A couple of drops mixed in your cream can help boost its effects on skin and also help make your moisturizer more spreadable. On nights the world thinks especially dry (something has happened pretty often during this never-ending NYC winter), this is our favorite tips to ensure we wake with radiant skin in the morning.
4. Add your foundation
When we were at JHJ Parapam, among Korea’s top cosmetic salons, the top makeup artist blended several drops of serum into a liquid foundation to present a dewy, naturally luminescent finish (“gwang”). A great strategy to ensure your foundation application doesn’t become cakey or dry through the lifetime of the morning. She also liked to dispense a drop of serum or ampoule onto her finger tips and gently dab around the apples and brow bones of the face - the best way to jazz up the facial skin, having a more subtle shimmer than the usual highlighter.
5. To give that crowning glory of ‘glow’
We recently had the opportunity talk to makeup artist extraordinaire Kira Nasrat (@kiranasrat) and that we were astonished by her depth of skincare expertise. One among her tips would be to finish makeup application with skincare. She loves to warm a serum or moisturizer involving her hands after which use her fingertips and palms to very gently press treatments to the skin to aid ‘set’ makeup by leaving skin glowing. As ampoules can be hugely lightweight, it could be an ideal candidate because of this sort of application.
