THIS is EXACTLY why people shouldn't do drugs

Okay, well, we all know who Amy Winehouse is, by now, obviously.  She's the poster child of too much success too quick, and what can happen to your appearance, if you keep up with the hard stuff for too long... Believe me, she USED to be pretty.  But look at the picture comparison, and look at what she used to be, and what she is now.

I don't know what's more depressing.  The fact that, in the second picture, Amy looks like she really could just fall over dead at any second... Or the fact that these pictures were taken a YEAR apart.  Seriously.  She's fallen off of the wagon this hard, this quickly, and excuse my language, but that's just fucked up.  Even with Lindsay Lohan constantly falling off of the wagon she was never really on, she's managed to keep her looks.  Even after Britney Spears went through her mega mental meltdown during most, if not all, of 2007, she's managed to keep her looks then, and has managed to look great afterward.  Amy, though... Good God.

A lot of these celebrities, who constantly go down, and come back up a little, then go crashing back down, somehow, seemed to have gotten their lives back together when someone else has stepped in to their life.  Lindsay has Samantha Ronson, her girlfriend, and Britney has her dad.  The people in Amy's life just continue to watch, as she slips further and further down, seemingly not bothering to step in, because 'she's an adult, and can take care of herself'.  Yeah... She's doing a damn good job, taking care of herself, there.  Her beehive, so I think it is, looks less tangled than it did last week!

Bullshit.

Amy needs help.  She's supposedly gone back to rehab, but it's not like she won't stay.  Truth of the matter is, no matter how bad of shape the addict is in, you can't force them to rehab, because they won't recover that way.  They have to be able to WANT to make a difference, and so far, Amy hasn't shown that.  Amy's mother and father keep talking about how they want to help her, but do they actually do it?  No.  They just sit around, watching, like the rest of the world, waiting to see if just at the right moment, the paparrazi or news cameras will capture THE very moment she drops to the floor, like an anchor, passed out, not likely to wake back up because she's overdosed again.

Amy Winehouse fans, I hate to break it to you, but I feel like someone in this world has to.  Amy's gonna die.  She just isn't going to get any better.  She hasn't shown anyone that she wants to get clean, that she wants to make a difference,... Hell, she even wrote a song about it.  Not that that says a whole lot, but creative people can only really express how they truly feel through song, dance, or other forms of art.  And Amy's expressed herself over and over again.  Let's just face it; it's about time we stopped feeling pity, as hard as it may be, and just start counting down the days to that day, when news outlets all over the world flood our television sets, internet websites and radio stations with that grim breaking news report that no one, even I, who is the one harping about it, ever wants to hear:  "Amy Winehouse has died".

It's a shame.  But I'm afraid it's something we all need to prepare for.  And while many of the world could really care less if she were alive or dead, for anyone, like me, who appreciates music of almost any style and genre, it is upsetting, and not really something that's easy to come to terms with.  Believe me, I'm not a fantard by any stretch of the imagination.  But Amy's music is unique, for music in today's day and age, and it's a shame to have to lose someone who is unique music wise, and, lookwise, stayed true to herself.
