Today's society is centered on the seven deadly sins. No this is not going to be some biblical talk. We are centered on money (greed), Sex (lust), Physical appearance (pride), Food and weight (gluttony), The easier route (sloth), What other people have that we don't (envy), and Our hatred towards others for whatever reason (wrath). I see on tv every day ads to lose weight fast to be more attractive to the opposite or same sex whichever you prefer. I see ads and hear about ads regarding get rich quick slogans that will help you make Millions over a short period of time with little to no effort. You see wrath on the news all the time, people killing others, hating others for what seems like trivial reasons. Lust is everywhere we look. We cannot deny the fact that pride, greed and lust seem to rule the majority of our live and make a gate way for the other "sins" to play a part.

I saw this awesome shirt on www.pyramidcollection.com It said "I feel a Sin coming on" I thought it was very cute but it made me think. When do we not feel one of these happy little traits enter out lives. There is no such person in this world who can say they are not guilty to having indulged in one or all of those "sins" and I say "sins" in quotations because Sin is a Christian terminology and I'm not Christian by any sense of the word.

That’s beside the point. There's nothing wrong with lust. There is nothing wrong with Pride. Envy is perfectly normal. So is wrath, sloth, greed, and gluttony. As I was thinking about that I realized that even though the three "sins" I mentioned above seem to dominate every aspect of our lives, the one that is the most dangerous is gluttony. The reason I say this is because the meaning of gluttony has little to do with food, but rather the over indulgence of something. If we sit and think about it, all of the chaos and all of the problems with the other "sins" is the fact that we over indulge in them.

Now I’m not saying that I am not guilty, hell, I’m a fan of all seven deadly sins. I realize however that if we could just pull back on the reins a little. Keep ourselves from over indulging in our greed, pride, lust, wrath, sloth, envy or gluttony towards something we feel we need, we’d see a major difference in how we act and treat one another. People wouldn’t be so concerned with how they look. The would be more grateful for what they have rather then be upset over what they don’t.

I’m sure that who ever is reading this agrees at least with the last part, but unfortunately it’s human and what are we if not human?

Constantly when it comes to certain issues I am accused of overreacting. I think that in my own little world, it's more like certain people are underreacting. I'm a Pagan, I love nature, I whorship nature and above all else I respect it. Afterall it was here before me and with all hope remaining it'll be here after me. In so saying this, any time I see a creature..big or small being tormented strictly because the tormentor can just irks the hell out of me like nothing else.

Now, like many people in the world, I am scared of spiders. I respect them however because they are powerful symbols in my faith. Not to mention they are a living breathing thing and therefore deserve to be respected for that alone. They feel fear and feel pain much like people do though we are not one in the same. It upsets me when people take that for granted and think that its okay to torment it.

What brought this on is simple. It was a simple assignment on observation in class. That majority of class forgot about it because we weren't getting graded, but we were supposed to bring in something from nature to observe. A guy in my group..we'll call him Mr. Wings went outside and got this really pretty flower from beside the building. This was perfectly acceptable..except there were some bugs inside..several ants and one tiny little green crab spider. The ant were quickly squashed but they decided to observe the spider instead of the flower.

Now observing an animal is one thing..poking at it and pushing it around with your fingers and flower stem is another. It's tiny little body was being beaten up by them and all they could say was "Whats the big deal? It's just a spider!"  The big deal is..that it's a living thing and you're hurting it because you get enjoyment out of it. The big deal is that I'm upset about this and you feel the need to taunt me because of my beliefs. The big deal is that you have no respect for life that has been here since the dawn of time.

They never look at the bigger picture. They claim to be god fearing christians and yet they treat their gods creatures with little to no respect. That to me screams Hypocrit! Now in a previous blog I mentioned that I am not a vegitarian and that I feel that if a wolf can eat meat then so can I. What makes Humans different from wolves, is that wolves don't hunt because it's fun, they don't torment their victims. They kill, they eat, they survive. Humans hunt because they want a prize, they have no intention of eating what they kill. Now I'm saying this is everyone..this is just a generalization. Humans are the only creatures that hunt and kill because it's fun. I don't have an issure with killing things, I know ants and roaches and even spiders are going to get killed..it's sad, but I understand..however don't torture them first. If you're going to kill something..do it quickly. There is no need for it to feel pain.

If we torture a cat, dog, or some kind of furry little creature that someone thinks it beautiful or cute, it's call barbaric and there are laws against it. But where is it considered okay to torture living thing? When it's small and crunchy? When it has no fur? When it has more then four legs and doesn't go meow or woof?

Maybe I am overreacting..after all it's just a spider right?

Dontcha just hate it when a coworker that you don't really like comes up and unload all their relationship problems on you for some odd reason. Don't get me wrong, I'll listen, I'll give my advice if you want it and I'll offer a shoulder to cry on even if I hate every ounce of your being. However, Do not get pissey with me when I offer my opinion about the situation. My coworker, we'll call her M comes up to me one day and unleashes holy hell about her boyfriend of ten years. She recently discovered that he's cheating on her again. She's telling me the story and I can't help but chuckle. I suppose it wasn;t the most appropriate thing but then she says "This isn't -bleeep-ing funny! It hurts like hell. If you've ever had it done to you, you wouldn't laugh." Now stop right there. As far as I know every woman on the face of the planet has been lied to, beaten, cheated on or worse according to everyone you speak to. Whether it's true or not I have no idea, but this has happened to everyone. The difference in between me and them is how I handled it compared to how they handled it.

Or rather the difference is..that I did handle it and they did not. I don't put up with that crap. Anyone who does is silly and is the cause for their own dang misery. I've been in and out of several relationships. Given not all of them bad. I've been in two abusive relationships, neither of which lasted long and I've been cheated on dozens of times. I don't take it. My ex hit me and I ended the relationship then and there no questions asked and stated that if he ever layed another hand on me, I'd see to it that he never reproduces. The other guy...I hit back and then left. Anyone who cheats on me and I find out there are no excuses, no "I'm sorry baby it'll never happen again" 's  nothing. I simply get out.

She's been dating him supposedly for ten years and she;s still with him after all that crap. She has the power to stop it very easily. Which is worse afterall..crying after breaking up with him, or staying with him and being miserable for the rest of your life? I watched my mother get cheated on a abused for several years until she'd had enough and left. I swore that would never be me. I also stated that I'd never give second chances after watching my sister and friends get back together with the same @$$ hole that had broken up with and then wind up in the same situation. It was a viscious cycle that I swore Id never get into and I haven't.

I just don't understand where this "Woe is me" crap comes from when I've been there and I stopped that crap once it started. I don't put up with it, why do they?

Is it because they want people to feel sorry for them, do they like the attention. I don't feel sorry for people like them because they are doing it to themselves. No M, I won't feel sorry for you. What you're doing to yourself is stupid..and I'm allergic to stupid. Suck it and start wearing the big girl pants. You are incontrol of your life and only you can make yourself feel small.

Dump the guy and then get over it.

Now recently I read an article about plants communicating with eachother to warn of danger. This sort of struck me as odd in a freaky weird sci-fi-ish way. If they can communicate when danger is near, does this mean that they have a consciousness? Does this mean that plants can "feel"? If this were true it would change the whole idea of plants. Like for example, there are some vegitarians out there who won't eat meat because it's wrong to kill an animal, persay. Don't get me wrong..I have nothing against them and to each their own. I just feel that if a wolf can go out and eat meat, as it is taught to in nature, then so can I. However, given this new information about plants "talking" to eachother, this would induce the idea that a plant can feel pain and therefore, wouldn't is also be wrong to eat the plant?

Seems to me, these types of "its wrong to eat an animal" vegitarians are going to need to learn how to survive off of air alone. Afterall, we can't risk causing hard to anything that can feel pain right? It's wrong.

Okay jumping back into the past a bit. I'm sure everyone in sometime in their life have said "Well, those people should never breed!" Yes I am talking about Stupid People. Not people with learning disabilities or anything like that. No I'm talking about people who generally know better yet choose to ignore common sense. The kind of people that when you're around them, you actually feel your brain cells wilting away in horrable agony.

Generally when I refer to stupid people, I'm referring to people who do stupid things and expect to get away with them. Like for example, telling a judge that they should award you 1000.00 to get back on your feet and that you shouldn't have to work because you're trying to go to school..all this during a child custody case..Stupid right?

Well, I'm getting ahead of myself..let me hop backwards. This little rant is actually about my nephew, who is biologically my cousin..On the Next Jerry Springer? Perhaps, but let me explain. My cousin..well we'll lable him P so not to name actual names, we wouldn't want anyone to be embarressed now would we? My cousin got entangled with this girl, and I say girl because she has the maturity level of a 13 yr old, and ended up marrying her. They had three kids together, niether one of them could ever hold a job..well I take that back.. My cousin P could never hold a job..she never attempted to get a job. They got kicked out of three homes because they couldn't make rent and ended up leeching off of my grandmother.

Eventually my family stepped in and took the kids away and set up a charge for neglect. My Aunt took the youngest child, one of my other cousins took the oldest, and my sister took the middle child. Now let me explain how incredibly special these children are and why it pisses me off that they, much less any other child should've been put into this situation. L, my nephew/cousin, is a beautiful little cherub like boy with golden hair and some of the most beautiful blue/grey eyes you'll ever see. His smile just lights up a room and he has the cutest little laugh. I remember when he was much much smaller...he never smiled. I mean never. We couldn't have coaxed a smile out of him to save the planet. His older sister AM, was a bit more chipper, but she had a short fuse and lost her temper and got angry really fast, almost violently angry. The youngest, well we never saw much of her until after she was in the care of my Aunt, so I can't really say much for her personality before hand.

After several months of just having the kids live with them they decided to terminate parental rights and file for full adoption. My couins wife threw a fit. She claimed that she thought we were tying to help her out by taking the kids for awhile and then we stabbed her in the back by trying to keep them perminately. She never once tried to contact them, no birthday cards, no christmas cards, nothing. She didn't know she had to in order to keep her parental rights but redardless if she loved her kids as much as she said..she would;ve made contact. The judge at the time stated that he would give her another trial run, but she had to maintain contact with her kids. He then set up visitation parameters for them, but also stated that she had to pay child support since they were still her kids.. Everyone was upset, and things just went from bad to worse.

L started having nightmares, AM starting acting violently again..and the youngest just stopped talking.

Don't worry folks, my story has a happy ending. A few months later my cousin's wife, well we'll call her J, went back to the judge and stated that she shouldn't have to pay child support or maintain a job because she was trying to go to school. She also stated that the court should give her 1000.00 just to help her get back on her feet.

The judge laughed at her, and instead court ordered her to maintain a 40 hr work week making at least 6.00/hr. She quit after two weeks and relinquished her parental rights. We found out later from my cousin P that J was under the impression that if she had the kids she'd never have to work again because she would qualify for wellfare. Needless to say..she was stupid. That ends this little rant. Thanks for listening :)

  Have you ever sat down with nothing on tv and start flicking through channels diligently looking for something interesting to watch and stumble across a music video promoting a genre of music you don't really listen to..and yet somehow it grabs your attention? Well that happened to me the other day. To be honest, I don't know anything about this type of music..so I'm not sure if I should classify it as R&B or Pop, either way..it's not my kind of music. However, the song itself really grabbed my attention and it an awesomely valid point. The song was "Sorry, blame it on me" By Akon. Basically in the lyrics the song is talking about how people always blame crimes on music, when instead when blaming criminals, unless insane, you can trace back to the parents.

  Let me explain. I've heard many times how parents always blame music..or movies or the vilonce on tv instead of pointing the finger at themselves. I was raised on Nightmare on Elm str, Jaws and Poltergist and whatever other scary movie my mom decided she wanted to watch at the time. I grew up just fine. I'm in college and I maitain a full time job. I'm 22 years old, and I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. I have no kids or STDs and I've never been labled a slut, and I'm not a prostitute..so that crushes that theory. I listen to heavy metal rock and alternative rock and...I'm not a Devil whorshipper either.

  The fact of the matter is.. My mother sat down and told me that if I even got landed in jail, my @$$ would stay there! My sister and I never got into as much trouble as these so called troubled kids out there. Its not the environment either. People know whats right and whats wrong and if they don't then they're parents should've taught them that. There's no excuse for going and robbing a liquor store to get drug money. They have a choice..not to do it. It's not the music's fault, its not the movies fault and it's not your neighborhoods fault. If the child doesn't know any better..then it's the parents fault..and if the parent did do their job..then it's the childs fault because the child knows better and just decided to ignore.

  So where do people get off blaming the entertainment industry? It;s simple. People would rather look like a victim then of the cause. Its easier to blame something then it is to take the blame. It's hard being an entertainer because of this. People whorship you because of your fame and then turn around and blame you for all their problems. Sucks!

I'll admit that I have a tendency to sometimes seem a bit obnoxious when it comes to my opinions..but please remember when reading my little rants that they are just that. They aren't meant to insult or offend anyone. So lets get started with tonights little annoyance. I work late nights at a hotel and most of the time between duties there's nothing else to do but watch late night tv. I know UGH! Right? Well one of my favorite shows to watch are the animal cop shows on animal planet. I've seen some horrific things that people have done or have let happen to animals..and I even know some people who are just the same way. They don't care about these innocent furry critters.

This really pisses me off. One episode in particular really ticked me off. This guys decided it would be awesome to beat a couple of dogs to death at a party. No one stopped him..no one cared..and he only got four years in prison for it. I'm sitting here thinking..had he killed a human being. Beat a human being to death, he'd most likely get the death penalty, well depending on which state he was tried in. Animals however, they don't get the same kind of justice. Animals feel just as much pain, and can suffer just like we do and when someone takes an animals life in such a horrific way. I feel that they should be given a much more fair sentence.

I wouldn't say I'm an animals rights activist, nor am I vegitarian. Canines, Felines, and other carnivores/omnivores in nature eat meat as a means to survive, so I do not see a reason as to why I cannot. However..you do not see cat beating eachother to death just for the sheer joy of it. Some people would argue that dogs kill for pleasure. They do not. They kill for survival..or because they are taught to. And even then, they are still killing for survival. A dog fight is a fight to the death, it is a kill or be killed situation that can leave a once sweet innocent animal incapable of love or trust because it knows nothing else other then violence. Place a human being in that same situation and it'd be called Barbaric..and yet there are people out there who think this is entertainment. I'm sorry I think you were born in the wrong time setting..this isn;t ancient Rome at the time of the Gladiators and how the F**k would you feel if we decided to put you in a fight to the death against another human being? Beat you bloody, starve you..hate you and make you expendable..Still think it's fun?

People say that the death penalty is cruel and unsual..and inhumane.. Me..I am all for capital punishment. People commit crimes because they do not fear the law. People kill other people because even if they do get to die.. they don't get to suffer for what they've done. The people and animals they tortured had to suffere and their killers don;t. What justice is that? If a man tortures rapes and then murders a woman just because he felt like it..I feel that he should be given the same treatment so that he understands that this sort of Sh*t is not funny.

If people had a reason to fear the law there would be much less crime. The law is meant to protect..It does not instill fear or intimidate anyone who would break the law so how does it protect anything? They say that one of the sure fire ways to see if a person is a serial killer in the making is to see how they treat animals. My god..if this is true we are in soooo much trouble! My own family has left their dog out for hours when she was begging to come inside all because they didn't want to deal with her and when she is inside...they either ignore her or put her in her cage.

Animals are like small children..if they were to do this to their kid..they'd go to jail for child abuse. When it comes to their dog however..it's perfectly acceptable to treat it this way. Now don't get me wrong..when it comes to pets..I too have made mistakes. Ones that I regret. I'm a big enough person to admit it. Sometimes I've forgotten to feed my cat and I end up feeling like a horrable person because I start thinking..well what if it were me..and I hadn't eaten all day?

So it does happen..but it shouldn't. People don't want to think this way because well an animal isn't a human. Without Animals though, we'd be in such bad shape. People rely on animals so much in the world that they are often taken for granted. If all the animals in the world just disappeared, only then would we realize how incredibly stupid and careless we were with someone the worlds most important things.

Pets are sometimes our only friend, our companions and in some cases..part of our family.. So how come we don't treat them better? I guess it's a question I'll never know the answer to.
