Now recently I read an article about plants communicating with eachother to warn of danger. This sort of struck me as odd in a freaky weird sci-fi-ish way. If they can communicate when danger is near, does this mean that they have a consciousness? Does this mean that plants can "feel"? If this were true it would change the whole idea of plants. Like for example, there are some vegitarians out there who won't eat meat because it's wrong to kill an animal, persay. Don't get me wrong..I have nothing against them and to each their own. I just feel that if a wolf can go out and eat meat, as it is taught to in nature, then so can I. However, given this new information about plants "talking" to eachother, this would induce the idea that a plant can feel pain and therefore, wouldn't is also be wrong to eat the plant? Seems to me, these types of "its wrong to eat an animal" vegitarians are going to need to learn how to survive off of air alone. Afterall, we can't risk causing hard to anything that can feel pain right? It's wrong. |

There was one experiment, in which they had these plants in a room, hooked up to these stenograph like machines, and one person walked into the room and walked up to one of the plants and picked a leaf, when they did, the needle on the stenograph jumped suddnely and sense then, whenever that samer person would walk into the room the other plants, would react negavitvely and the needle would start to jump, but if anyone else walked into the room the plants did not react.
Plants and trees were once held to be sacred by many anceint people and it was beleived that they did have a soul of thier own.
