1/4/2016 - Why Use a Personal Trainer and the way Do You Choose the Best One?
Posted in Unspecified

Visit ten commercial gyms or fitness centres and get them why you should make use of a Personal Trainer and you will get ten different answers, based on why you should use a Personal Trainer from their facility. The problem with the advice you receive from these professional sales people, is that the advice is driven by sales targets and is also designed to help build the lenders of the resident Fitness instructors.

Now don't get me wrong, I am a Personal Trainer working out of a big commercial gym we want to build by business. Gaining access to gym members who had been sold on the virtues and values of personal training certainly makes that job far less difficult. But, I would prefer to have my clients decide on a Personal Trainer (preferably me) for valid reasons sufficient reason for a realistic view of what you can expect to receive in substitution for their hard-earned dollars.

Let's begin at the beginning; why is it better to workout with a Fitness instructor? Essentially, there are ten main reasons why most people choose to engage an individual Trainer and they are:

1. You are not seeing results. Many individuals will begin an exercise regime using a general goal planned, usually weight loss, and work consistently for weeks, months as well as years without getting any discernible results. An excellent Personal Trainer will begin your vacation with a comprehensive Pre-Exercise Screening questionnaire and can have an in depth discussion together with you about your goals, motivation and previous exercise history. Only then, after gaining a knowledge of where you currently are where you want to get to, will they begin formulating a fitness and nutrition plan particularly for you. Included in the pre-exercise screening, will likely be body weight assessment, girth measurements and maybe even skinfold measurements taken to establish a baseline by which your future progress will be measure.

2. You do not know where to start. No Personal Trainer worth spending your cash will assume that you've any prior knowledge of anatomy & physiology, nutrition or exercise science. This is because if we assume that every client can be a blank canvas and provide the workouts based on the principles of sound technique and progression, every client contains the opportunity to learn the safest, ultimate way in which to build potency and efficacy, cardio vascular fitness and insure against unnecessary injuries. Many people who join gym do not know how to exercise effectively or safely and there's no-one better to teach you how to do that than your own Trainer. A large number of people will download a templated workout using their favourite website or get advice from their "fit" friends. The problem with this approach is that you may not understand how to use the equipment safely and the workout has not been tailored to fit your individual needs and/or limitations.

3. You might be bored with the same old workouts. I understand from personal experience that if you do not change your workout frequently, or add interesting cross-training options in the mix, you become very tired of the workout and they are less likely to even try and do it. Bang, there goes your motivation. A fantastic Personal Trainer will be continually reviewing how you're progressing, how your body is changing to the exercise and, assessing your motivation. If any, or all, of those indicators show indications of plateauing or you are less motivated, he'll almost certainly change your routine and then add variety into your workout to help keep it interesting and to repeatedly challenge your body.

4. You'll need to be challenged. If you are like the exercising population, there'll be days when you simply don't think that pushing yourself to your limits or, you only feel like slacking off. A Personal Trainer will not permit you to bring out the BS excuses to never workout. He will push one to complete that last two reps and encourage you the set once the weight seems too heavy. He will be your conscience, your mentor along with your cheer squad, but he'll almost certainly not be your Mother.

5. You need to learn how to exercise all on your own. Even if you want to exercise by yourself, it is a great idea to interact a Personal Trainer for a couple of sessions to learn the way to exercise. This is especially true if you wish to learn about the muscles in your body, how to target those muscles and the ways to complete the exercises with good technique. Just a few sessions can instruct you about your body, the way it operates and what you can do the get the best out of it through exercise.

6. You will need accountability and motivation. Fitness trainers come with built-in motivation. You're investing both money and time in your health and fitness then there is nothing like a standing appointment to help you get off your butt and moving. An excellent Personal Trainer will also provide accountability; if you don't turn up with an appointment, they will be straight on you to find out in the event you did the missed training in your own time. They will regularly quiz your body on its eating and sleeping habits to successfully are staying on course.

7. You have a specific illness, injury or condition. For those who have specific conditions like, Diabetes type 2 symptoms, Heart Disease, arthritis or old injuries, employing a Personal Trainer, who can work with your Doctor, Physiotherapist or Chiropractor, will help you find a program that suits your particular circumstances, help heal injuries and, avoid further problems. Understand that you want to find a trainer that has experience with your issues and make sure that trainer works closely along with your doctor and/or physical therapist for top experience.

8. You might be training for a sport or event. Should you be training for a marathon, the football season along with other type of sport or event, a seasoned Personal Trainer can help you decide what you need to do to stay strong without detracting from your other training. He is able to also help create a training course and map out a periodisation plan for the coming event. Just make sure he's experienced in the game you're training for since don't assume all trainers do sport-specific training.

9. You would like supervision and support. Some people do know how to exercise for optimum results and can say for sure how to exercise safely but nevertheless want to have a Personal Trainer around to supervise their workout and still provide support (including spotting heavy weights) during the workout. The individual Trainer then becomes more of a training partner.

10. You would like to workout at home. Many people have a good collection of digital cameras at home but aren't sure using what they have or, not have the motivation and discipline to truly exercise. A Personal Trainer can present you exactly how to utilize what you have got as well as the knowledge that your Trainer will be arriving at a particular period in the specified day will help motivate you to do the task.

Now that you have some really compelling logic behind why you should use a Personal Trainer, required is: How do you select the best one?

I could be facetious and just say, "pick me!" but there are several fundamental, and non-negotiable, criteria that you can insist on seeing. The 1st of these is an appropriate, recognise qualification in fitness or exercise science. Being an absolute minimum, the individual Trainer must have certificates III & IV in Fitness. Whether they have a Diploma in Fitness or Under Graduate Degree in Sports or Exercise Science, then much the better.

Secondly, when they do not have additional qualifications, e.g. Certificate or Diploma level, in Nutrition or Dietetics, they should not be offering nutritional or dietary advice after dark scope of the National Dietary Guidelines. If, however, they do have additional qualifications in Nutrition and/or Dietetics, they are able to help you analyse your diet plan and offer nutritional guidance and advice.

Another factor to consider could be the specialisation. Every Fitness trainer has been educated to a quantity that will allow them to offer support and guidance to some broad range of people having a broad range of objectives and challenges. However, I have yet to meet an individual Personal Trainer who does not have access to a specialisation or, a desire for a particular type of training. If you were diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes as well as your goal is to lose weight and control your condition, it could be pointless teaming on top of a Personal Trainer whose specialisation or preference is made for body building and competition. It would be equally pointless for an aspiring body builder to team up with a Trainer who specialises in post-pregnancy weight reduction. The experience would be underwhelming and frustrating both for parties.

Finally, compatibility is really a key factor in deciding individual preference should entrust along with your health and fitness journey. You might have found the best Fitness instructor on the planet but if he's got a huge ego and possesses difficulty relating to you, on your level, he is not the person for you. Spend the time by sitting and have a chat, discover something about the Trainer's background, their personal fitness journey and just what they enjoy doing while working out. If you find a kindred spirit who's all of the qualifications and a specialisation that fits your needs, they are the Trainer in your case.

When you do see that perfect Personal Trainer, don't make the mistake of putting dollars in the way of achieving your goals. It in the right Fitness expert will be worth every cent. Let's say you are asked to invest $50 per session twice per week to get the Trainer of your choice. In isolation, $100 can seem to be like quite a large amount of money but you need to put it into context; precisely what is your life and long term health worth? In the event you eliminated all junk food, cigarettes and alcohol from a diet, how much would that help save each week? If you were capable of stop taking the drugs that are currently keeping you healthy, the amount would you save? The dollars mustn't be the determining factor.

It's very easy for me to imply "I can get you into the best model of your life" and in fact, a lot of my contemporaries do just that in their advertising, what does that mean poor your life? I would much rather say: "I can help you discover the strength of purpose and discipline being fit and healthy for the rest of your daily life." This is a reality that individuals can both commit to and make it happen. Only you can change your life; I can teach you how and help you achieve it.
