TEARS IN A BOTTLE Reference: Psalms 56:8 You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.
Observation: What an encouragement to know that God is so aware of what we go through. Times of trials and difficulties bring with them the sense that we are all alone. In those times, this verse speaks to our hearts and lets us know, absolutely, we are never alone, that we are never unloved, that we need never be without comfort.
Application/Confession: In my flesh I sometimes wonder if God even notices when my heart is broken and crushed. Satan lies to me and my own reaction is to simply try to get tough rather than to admit my brokenness and, in the midst of it, to find a God who really cares and is truly present.
PRAYER: Dear God, thank you that you care to know and remember what has brought woundedness into my life. The very next time I find myself in tears, in grief and sorrow may I hear the comforting voice of your love rather than the voice of Satan or my own heart telling me that I must bear it alone. Remind me that I am never without You.

PEOPLE ARE TOO BIG, GOD'S TOO SMALL
Reference: Psalms 56:11 I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?
Observation: The cause of anxiety and fear is two fold: we fail to trust in God and we give “mere mortals”, people, the power to frighten and intimidate us. The real problem is that God is too small and people are too big in our hearts and minds. We give God too little credit for being able to control our lives and bring the best out of what ever happens to us, and give people too much credit to being able to thwart the good plans of God for us. To live without fear we need to remind our hearts that God controls the universe and that people are, well, just people. They can’t do anything to us that God does not allow.
Application/Confession: How often do I find myself fearing man rather than fearing God? I would pray more, worry less and try to manipulate and control a lot less if I could simply get this equation right.
PRAYER: Not only do You, Lord, control all the universe, You also love me, deeply, eternally. May my peace and security be grounded in that. Teach me to trust you and never fear what man can do to me.

Look At Where You Are Standing Reference: Numbers 16:48 He stood between the dead and the living, and the plague stopped.
OBSERVATION: This is such an incredible image of intercession. Here the plague is wiping out the whole nation. Moses, in spite of the fact that God tells them to leave the nation to its fate, tells Aaron to burn the incense to stop the progress of the disease. Just like us, Aaron stands between the living and the dead, he worships and intercedes (by burning incense) and, by doing so, stops the plague in its tracks. This is our job. We are to stand between the living and the dead (those who know Jesus and those who don’t), intercede and worship, and, in doing so, be a part of stopping the destruction that is ruining lives and destroying people that we love, even members of your won family.
Application/Confession: The first question I have to ask myself is; How much do I really care about the lives that are lost in darkness all around me? How willing am I to stand and intercede on their behalf? How often do I turn a blind eye even though I am standing right in the thick of it; right between the living and the dead? I need to care more. I need to pray more.
PRAYER: I am Your priest, Lord. I am standing before You between those who are spiritually alive and those who are spiritually dead. There is a plague devastating our world. Give me a heart to intercede to stop this plague and see my world saved for You.
