If You Could Just See

REFERENCE: II Kings 6:16 “Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” 17 Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

Observation: Why do we find ourselves fearful and anxious about things that we are facing in life? Because we can see the problems very clearly but we can't see, except with the eyes of our spirit, the forces arrayed to help us. Elisha's servant, here, could see the army that had come to capture Elisha. He couldn't understand what Elisha could possibly mean when he said that there were more on thier side than were against them.

Often we feel that way. We know what is against us, we are not sure who is for us. We need what the servant needed. We need our eyes to be opened. That only happens in prayer as God gives us the gift of sight and, by it, the gift of faith to see how He has set Himself, and all the forces of heaven, to rescue us. As another scripture says, "if God be for us, who can be against us?" With that in mind, there is no place for fear or doubt.

Application/Confession: I find myself, at times, in that servant's place. Seeing the challenges clearly but not seeing the resouces of heaven that God has provided. I am learning to give more time to prayer so that I can see and believe more competely.

PRAYER:  O Lord, open my eyes and let me see! Let me see the power You have in place for me and even in me. Help me to see it clearly and believe You faithfully.
