8/17/2009 - Be My Copycat I Cor. 11:1
Be My Copy Cat REFERENCE: I Cor. 11:1 And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ. Observation: This is a scary but wonderful concept. It is wonderful because when we are brave enough to encourage others to look at our lives and do what we do, we put ourselves under the awesome responsibility to be a person worth imitating. Frankly, that is a good thing. We should always realize that others are watching. We should always act like it is true. When we make it explicit we are reminded and aware that it is happening and live differently. Application/Confession: Strangely, the hardest part of this for me is to remember that others are watching and they need to see me living in a balanced way. My pride wants them to see that I work all the time, that I am fully committed--to the death!! My heart reminds me that I need to show people how to balance life so that their family gets the attention they deserve and so that the individual doesn't burn up and burn out. Rest and relaxation is just as important to demonstrate as hard work is. PRAYER: Lord, help me to present a life in balance that can be imitated. I don't want to create disciples who don't know how to rest or care for their family appropriately. |
