11/23/2009 - Who Are You? (I Really Want to Know) I Peter 1:13-16
Who Are You? (I Really Want to Know) REFERENCE: I Peter 1:13-16 So think clearly and exercise self-control. Look forward to the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. 14 So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. 15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. 16 For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” OBSERVATION: This passage starts out with two great principles for living a good life (not to mention, a Godly one); "think clearly and exercise self-control". How many problems would we avoid if we could simply, consistenly practice these to admonitions? Most of the big problems that I have caused myself were because I did not either think clearly or act with the proper self-control. PRAYER: Help me Lord. Live Your life through me. Challenge me when I am choosing to live beneath my potential and reverting to who I was rather than who I now am. |
