The Danger in Praise

REFERENCE: Prov. 27:21 Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but a person is tested by being praised.

Observation: It is not just difficult times, but praise that tests us. It is then (when we are praised) that pride may rear its ugly head.

Application/Confession: I must make sure, as much as I have been tested by fire, that when I am tested by praise, I respond in humility.

PRAYER: Lord, remind me that the only opinion--good or bad--that really matters is yours. May I live for your applause alone.
