Anger Vent
REFERENCE: Prov. 29:11 A fool gives full vent to anger, but a wise person quietly holds it back.
Observation: What is the wise thing to do when you are angry? Hold it back"learn control. Several years ago there was a popular theory that if one gives vent to one's anger then it will disapate. It turns out to be not true. If we give vent to our anger we will feel more free to do it next time and there will be more anger to vent. Expressed anger begets more anger. It is a vicious cycle.
Application/Confession: I sometimes feel like the “wise” thing to do is to let my anger go"to give it full steam ahead. I may think that it will straighten someone up"get them living right for a change. It may feel good"but the bottom line is that it is unwise and destructive. Every time I have done it, its hurt rather than helped.
PRAYER: God I need your help and grace to control my anger. I know that the wrath of man does not produce your will or purposes. Please help me, every time, to “hold it back” and react as you would like me to.
